Description
Under the supervision of the Director of Child & Adolescent Services, this position is responsible for the delivery of clinical services and community supports to children and adolescents with severe and persistent mental illness, as defined by the State authority, Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC). Services will be provided according to the Texas Resiliency and Recovery Model and must conform to the standards set forth by the HHSC Performance Contract, Community Service Standards, Medicaid, and Helen Farabee Centers’ policies and procedures.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Provider assists clients with accessing community resources and services. Provider conducts assessments and assists clients in developing Recovery Plans. This position is required to serve on crisis call after regular business hours, for which compensation will be provided. The provider will be trained to respond to crisis situations and provide appropriate interventions to any person requesting help or presenting a crisis at any time. Teamwork, initiative, and professional work standards are always expected. This position requires an aptitude for working with severely mentally ill and often impoverished people, and for seeing this work as a clinical specialty in which we take considerable pride. A working knowledge of child and adolescent mental health disorders, assessment, behavioral interventions, and recovery planning is a requisite for this position. Assistance with coverage of unassigned caseloads will be required when the need arises. HFC incorporates principles of Trauma Informed Care throughout the agency, emphasizing cultural sensitivity and a safe and respectful environment for all individuals served and staff. All job descriptions include the responsibility to learn about and implement trauma-informed practices within the scope of work for the position. Reassignment is a condition of employment that may occur at the employer’s discretion. Your work location and hours could change based on program needs.
Qualifications
Education, Training, and Experience
Must have Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university with major in social, behavioral or human services field. Experience with severe and persistent mental illness is preferred. Must have valid driver’s license and be insurable to drive Center vehicles. Must pass all Center mandated trainings.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to read and proof correspondence, reports and computer printouts manually, etc.
Good spelling, grammar, and general writing skills.
Ability to complete Service Notes, assessments, brief mental status exams, letters, various complex reports, and miscellaneous other documents according to standards.
Ability to communicate in a courteous and effective fashion with co-workers, clients and families, agencies, and the public.
Prompt and respectful customer service orientation.
Skilled in the use of personal and network computers, Microsoft Office, and other software.
