The paramedic provides both basic and advanced life support, including comprehensive patient assessment, invasive airway management, cardiac monitoring and administration of medications.&nbsp;</p><p>The paramedic must be a confident leader who can accept the challenge and high degree of responsibility entailed in this position.&nbsp;</p><p>The paramedic must have excellent judgment, be able to prioritize decisions and act quickly in the best interest of the patient, as well as directing other team members to assist as needed, along with advanced knowledge in technical skills &nbsp;</p><p>The paramedic must be able to function independently at an optimum level in a non-structured environment that is constantly changing.&nbsp;</p><p>The paramedic must be able to remain calm while working in difficult and stressful situations and stay focused while assuming the leadership role inherent in carrying out the functions of the position.&nbsp;</p><p>The paramedic must possess excellent verbal communication skills and be capable of adapting to situations with violence and emotional instability in multicultural settings.&nbsp;</p><p>The paramedic must possess critical reasoning and math skills and be capable of applying them effectively in stressful situations. Self motivation is essential.&nbsp;</p><p>Must be self disciplined, able to develop patient rapport, interview patients, maintain safe distance, and recognize and utilize communication unique to diverse multicultural groups and ages within those groups.&nbsp;</p><p>Must be able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
