    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p><strong>ABOUT THE POSITION</strong></p>\n<p><strong>Senior Project Manager – Transportation (Major Projects)</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>VHB’s Massachusetts Highway and Structures Team is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of complex and mega transportation projects across Massachusetts and New England.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>This role will lead multidisciplinary teams of 10-30+ engineers, planners, and specialists delivering major infrastructure programs including highway corridor improvements, complex and signature bridges, rail modernization projects, and airport infrastructure using both traditional and alternative procurement. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The position offers the opportunity to guide major pursuits, collaborate directly with public agency clients, and help shape the growth of VHB’s transportation practice.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>You will join a collaborative team of experienced professionals who are committed to supporting one another in the successful delivery of complex projects while fostering professional growth and leadership development.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>VHB’s transportation practice continues to expand across New England and beyond creating opportunities for experienced leaders, and this role also offers significant opportunity for advancement into broader future leadership responsibilities.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Lead high-visibility pursuits and the delivery of complex transportation infrastructure projects for public transportation agencies across Massachusetts and New England.</li>\n <li>Lead multidisciplinary teams of engineers, planners, and specialists in the planning, analysis, design, and delivery of highway, bridge, rail, transit, and airport infrastructure projects.</li>\n <li>Oversee projects from strategic positioning and proposal development through award, conceptual design, final design, and construction support.</li>\n <li>Provide leadership for project execution including scope development, technical approach, schedule, budget management, and quality performance.</li>\n <li>Direct and mentor technical staff in the preparation of engineering designs, plans, specifications, cost estimates, reports, and bid documents.</li>\n <li>Serve as a primary technical liaison with clients, subconsultants, and contractors, representing VHB in project meetings and technical discussions.</li>\n <li>Support construction coordination by providing design guidance, addressing constructability considerations, and assisting with technical issue resolution during construction.</li>\n <li>Develop and maintain strong client relationships and support strategic pursuits and business development efforts across the region.</li>\n <li>Contribute to the growth of the transportation practice through mentorship of staff, collaboration across disciplines, and participation in strategic planning and major pursuits.</li>\n <li>Promote VHB’s standards for technical excellence, project management, risk management, and quality delivery. </li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Skills and Attributes </strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Superb technical and critical thinking skills and interdisciplinary understanding</li>\n <li>Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. </li>\n <li>Self-motivated, highly organized, and detail oriented. </li>\n <li>Familiarity with transportation design platforms such as Bentley OpenRoads, AutoCAD, Revit, and similar platforms.</li>\n <li>Model-Based Design development and coordination experience and strong understanding.</li>\n <li>Experience supporting integrated project delivery and schedule coordination tools is a plus.</li>\n <li>Strong understanding of local regulations, code, and design guides.  </li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Minimum Qualifications</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>15+ years of civil or structural engineering experience</li>\n <li>BS in Civil Engineering (transportation or structural emphasis preferred) </li>\n <li>Master’s degree a plus (counts towards years of experience) </li>\n <li>Massachusetts Professional Engineer licensure (licensure in other New England or other States is a strong plus only in addition to Massachusetts) </li>\n <li>Mid-to-large scale traditional and design-build complex transportation project management and construction support experience required, including past experience in the role of design manager, or deputy design manager.</li>\n <li>Experience working with public transportation agencies such as MassDOT, MBTA, Massport, or similar regional agencies is preferred.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in Boston/Watertown, MA is $170,000-230,000 and the position located in Worcester, MA is $160,000-220,000.
