Description

The Faculty Clinician Assessor supports the mission and vision of Life University, the College of Chiropractic, and the Life University Clinics. The clinician provides quality chiropractic patient care and education, and quality chiropractic clinical education to student interns. The clinician supports and provides assessment for students as they progress through the clinic sequence of courses. The faculty member supports the Clinic Director in the daily operations of the clinic, provides leadership and support, and is involved in the college community. The faculty member also assists in all areas of clinic procedures to assure a smooth flow of patients, interns, and records within the clinics. Essential Job Functions Patient Care : Responsible for the implementation and promotion of a vitalistic approach centered on the vertebral subluxation complex in the clinical application of chiropractic. Manage equitable patient loads to meet student educational requirements as well as clinic system requirements. Provide assessment of student interns on a continuous basis and support clinic administration in the development and implementation of assessment tools and processes, consistent with the Meta-competency accreditation requirements. Directly supervise and/or provide patient care as appropriate on a daily basis. Manage patient care within the approved protocol(s) of the Life Chiropractic Clinics and support for the highest level of QA in patent care and documentation in consultation with the Director of QAQI. Be accessible and responsive to the patient and student intern needs. Build and maintain a strong doctor/patient relationship ensuring patient satisfaction. Monitor patient progress and ensure appropriate follow-up. Provide the highest quality care possible and assist each patient to reach his or her health goals in a suitable manner. Provide referral to other health care providers as needed. Transfer patients when appropriate and maintain continuity of patient care. Demonstrate sound clinical judgment. Be a consultation source for other faculty. Complete patient reports and/or respond to agency inquiry in an appropriate and timely manner. Develop and maintain clinical expertise. Instruction : Develop and provide a hands-on mentoring approach to patient care, management, and clinical education. Provide assessment of student interns on a continuous basis. Support clinic administration in the development and implementation of assessment tools and processes, consistent with the Meta-competency accreditation requirements. Engage interns in a variety of clinical activities and promote a critical thinking environment while ensuring continuity of care. Provide instruction and oversee student conduct, proficiency, professionalism, and clinical standards. Be responsible for performing the Case Management Review, ensuring that a complete, goal oriented patient management plan is formulated. Support and aid students in developing communication skills. Support and assist interns to develop skills in examination, diagnosis and case management development, and adjusting. Manage and/or direct all clinical protocols and procedures performed by clinic interns. Participate in classroom activities as assigned. Perform qualitative assessment on intern clinical competency. Participate in the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) as assigned. Assist in student assessment and group educational activities. Provide student remediation when necessary. Develop and conduct doctor/student conferences on clinical and educational issues and/or small group sessions. Provide accurate and timely clinic advisement to those students assigned to you for advisement. Administrative : Comply with all Federal, State, and local laws applicable to the practice of chiropractic. Provide instruction and oversee student conduct, proficiency, professionalism, and clinical standards. Adhere to and support university, college, and clinic policies and procedures. Attend departmental, college and university meetings e.g. Faculty Staff Development Program and graduations. Be responsible for punctual attendance of all assigned hours on a daily basis. Be responsible for assisting the Clinic Director or his/her designate for the efficient operation and management of the clinic. Schedule patients during appropriate times that you expect to be on duty in the clinic (not during vacation and approved time out of the clinic). Monitor and report facility and equipment needing repair. Monitor the cleanliness and general neatness of the clinic on a daily basis. Participate on university and/or college committees and task forces as assigned. Construct a Professional Development Plan and Faculty Annual Review while pursuing listed items on an annual basis. Complete tasks assigned by the Director. Methods of Accountability: Patient surveys. Student evaluations. Attendance and performance at in-services, faculty development sessions and meetings. Productivity. File Reviews/Audits. Professional Development Plan and Faculty Annual Review. Performance evaluations by Clinic Director. Other Requirements: Consistently demonstrate integrity, character and leadership for providing excellence in chiropractic care to humanity. Ability to consistently utilize effective interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to maintain mental concentration for extended periods of time. Ability to perform multiple duties in addition to departmental responsibilities with frequent interruptions and time pressures. Possess the ability to tolerate and implement change. Capability to analyze and resolve doctor/student/patient conflicts in routine as well as crisis situations. Ability to perform and function in a consistent manner applicable for chiropractic practice. Cultivate in oneself and others an attitude of helpfulness, personal commitment to building relationships, managing to the best solution, and user friendly always Requirements: A Doctor of Chiropractic degree from an accredited program, with current license in good standing in the state of Georgia (or eligible for licensure in the state of Georgia). A Bachelor degree, or completion of a Bachelor degree within two years of the first day of employment with the University. A minimum of three (3) years successful practice experience. Excellent skills related to communication, patient education, assessment, organization, diagnosis, professionalism, and adjustment technique. Current CPR certification Related post-graduate degree, Diplomate, certification or coursework preferred. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics Strong presentation and meeting facilitation skills. Exceptional writing skills and experience. Ability to work with and maintain confidential student information. Strong interpersonal skills. High degree of initiative and independent judgment. Well-developed analytical and problem solving abilities. Computer skills: Microsoft Office, CMS (preferably Blackboard) and EHR (preferably Future Health)
