Job Overview
Primarily responsible for the evaluation and identification of students with disabilities and assists the school district and RDSPD in maintaining compliance with state and federal laws related to the provision of Special Education services. Position Description Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct evaluations and other professional activities consistent with the requirements of laws, rules and regulations, and local district policies and procedures Articulate the purpose of evaluation procedures and their relationship to educational programming Comply with local, state, and federal monitoring and evaluation requirements Develop collaborative relationships with families, educators, the school, the community, outside agencies, and related service personnel Communicate and consult effectively with individuals, parents/guardians, teachers, and other school and community personnel Use appropriate communication skills to report and interpret assessment and evaluation results Keep accurate and detailed records of assessments, evaluation, and related proceedings such as, but not limited to, ARD/IEP meetings, parent/guardian communication, and notifications Use assessment and evaluation information to plan individualized programs and make instructional decisions that result in appropriate services for students with disabilities Use technology to organize information, schedule meetings, develop and maintain ARD documentation and produce written materials Verify accuracy of PEIMS reports Coordinate and request additional assessments and/or consultations for related and instructional services are required by individual students Serve as resource to campus staff in ensuring special education compliance Coordinate with RDSPD team leader, campus administrators, and RDSPD central office staff relevant to special education issues Develop and maintain knowledge and skills by participating in professional development activities Attend meetings scheduled for Diagnostic Specialists as well as professional training specific to students with an auditory impairment

Qualification Requirements
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the above essential duties satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or abilities, required unless otherwise stated as preferred. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essentials functions. Master's Degree Valid Educational Diagnostician Certification OR Licensure by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists as an LSSP Valid Teaching Certification Issued by Texas Education Agency appropriate to subject and grade level of assignment IF certified as Educational Diagnostician Sign Language skill Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Work is performed in classrooms, offices, work stations and meeting rooms.
The position requires occasional walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting/carrying work related items weighing less than 40 pounds, such as books, papers and presentation materials. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Attendance at conferences and professional development is required. Work involves everyday risks and discomforts which require normal safety precautions when operating equipment or performing job duties. May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to maintain emotional control under stress.
