This role is responsible for strategic planning, financial oversight, quality and regulatory compliance, and staff leadership while serving as the primary liaison between SPD, clinical departments, and health system leadership.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The Director ensures patient safety through the development of highly reliable systems, drives operational performance across all SPD locations, and leads continuous process improvement efforts to support the growth of procedural and clinical case volume throughout EHC.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong> Strategic Leadership & Vision</strong></p>\n<li>Develop the philosophy, goals, and objectives for sterile processing services across EHC</li>\n<li>Design, develop, organize, direct, and promote SPD services to medical staff and entity operational leaders</li>\n<li>Design and implement programs to support increased procedural and clinical case volume</li>\n<li>Serve as liaison and intermediary between procedural leaders, entity leadership, and clinical stakeholder departments</li>\n<li>Report to the EHC SVP Perioperative Service Line Operations and collaborate with entity executive leadership</li>\n<li>Participate in all standing committees</li>\n<li>Analyze operations to identify potential enhancements and recommend solutions aligned with overall goals</li>\n<p><strong>Quality, Safety & Regulatory Compliance </strong></p>\n<li>Oversee EHC programs to ensure patient safety in collaboration with the Office of Quality</li>\n<li>Create highly reliable systems and methods to meet quality goals and objectives</li>\n<li>Provide operational accountability for the quality improvement program with the entity OR Executive Committee</li>\n<li>Implement standards, administer practice, evaluate outcomes, and maintain all regulatory records</li>\n<li>Collaborate on development and review of policies, procedures, and quality improvement indicators</li>\n<li>Ensure adherence to quality standards within sterile processing services</li>\n<li>Apply knowledge of Joint Commission guidelines and state/federal regulations and standards</li>\n<p><strong>Financial & Operational Management </strong></p>\n<li>Provide administrative and financial accountability for planning, directing, staffing, coordinating, and controlling all SPD functions</li>\n<li>Complete and approve annual operations and capital expense budgets</li>\n<li>Direct necessary financial analysis and factor financial need into budget projections</li>\n<li>Present proposed budgets to the governing body for final approval</li>\n<li>Regularly evaluate performance of each SPD location through in-person visits and record reviews</li>\n<li>Analyze and utilize information to support management decisions and communicate ongoing perioperative enterprise status</li>\n<p><strong>Stakeholder Engagement & Communication </strong></p>\n<li>Communicate with physicians and work closely with entity leaders to maintain high service standards</li>\n<li>Function as an effective liaison between procedural areas, system leadership, and clinical departments</li>\n<li>Communicate ongoing status of the perioperative enterprise to relevant stakeholders</li>\n<li>Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills</li>\n<li>Apply strong marketing skills to promote SPD services across the health system</li>\n<p><strong>People Leadership & Process Improvement </strong></p>\n<li>Develop, implement, monitor, and measure programs for staff recruitment and retention</li>\n<li>Demonstrate leadership skills with emphasis on staff retention</li>\n<li>Lead and manage process improvement projects delivering measurable impact on quality, safety, efficiency, and patient satisfaction</li>\n<li>Apply strong project management and change management skills</li>\n<li>Apply strong strategic planning and personnel management skills</li>\n<li>Demonstrate knowledge of computer systems and software relevant to SPD operations</li>\n<p>Additional Duties as Assigned</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Travel: Travel between Emory operating units and affiliated sites</p>\n<p>Work Type: On-site employee</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Minimum Required Qualifications: </strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Bachelor's degree in nursing, business administration or health care required. Master's Degree preferred</li>\n <li>Seven years in managing a highly complex perioperative or Sterile Processing services enterprise</li>\n <li>Previous system experience in leading large scale sterile processing or perioperative performance improvement projects</li>\n <li>Strong communication and organizational/planning skills with demonstrated leadership abilities</li>\n <li>Licensure - Must maintain valid Driver's License and vehicle insurance to meet travel requirements</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Preferred Qualifications: </strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Master's degree in nursing, business administration or health care</li>\n <li>Extensive experience in overseeing Perioperative or Sterile Processing services in a complex fast paced academic hospital system preferred</li>\n <li>Certification: Certification in Sterile Processing preferred</li>\n</ul>\n<p>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium): 20-50 lbs; 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 50 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks. ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Factors affecting environment conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock, Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation, Shift work, Travel may be required.
