Counsels individuals and families on an inpatient and outpatient basis on nutritional principles and modified diets to foster compliance and meet their personal needs.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>KEY RESPONSIBILITIES</strong></p>\n<p>Performed majority of the time:</p>\n<p>·         Implements and supervises nutritional aspects of patient care based on assessments of nutritional needs to ensure that quality nutritional care is provided.</p>\n<p>·         Utilizes order writing privileges to assign order laboratories, supplements, and to create nutrition support plans</p>\n<p>·         Counsels individuals and families on an inpatient and outpatient basis on nutritional principles and modified diets to foster compliance and meet their personal needs.</p>\n<p>·         Interprets and evaluates and utilizes current research related to nutrition care. Communicates findings to the health care team including physicians.</p>\n<p>·         Updates patient nutrition handouts.</p>\n<p>Performed occasionally but critical to successful performance of the job:</p>\n<p>·         Attends departmental meetings and serves on hospital-based committees to improve nutritional services.</p>\n<p>·         Participates in professional organizations and maintains continuing education to assure personal and professional development and currency of dietetic skills.</p>\n<p>Decision making and budget responsibilities:</p>\n<p>·         Impact limited to the employee.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>JOB SPECIFICATIONS</h2>\n<p><strong>JOB SPECIFICATIONS</strong></p>\n<p><strong><u>Education:</u></strong></p>\n<p>Required</p>\n<p>·         Bachelor’s or Master's degree that meets the eligibility requirement for taking the registered dietitian examination.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Preferred</p>\n<p>·          </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong><u>Experience:</u></strong></p>\n<p>Required</p>\n<p>·          </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Preferred </p>\n<p>·         One (1) year experience in nutrition and dietetics in a health care environment.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong><u>Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations:</u></strong></p>\n<p>Required</p>\n<p>·         Registered Dietitian through Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) upon hire. </p>\n<p>·         Licensed Dietitian with the State of Oregon required within 30 days of hire.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Preferred </p>\n<p>·          </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong><u>Job Related Skills, Abilities and Behaviors:</u></strong></p>\n<p>Required</p>\n<p>·         Familiarity with menu options and specialty diet restrictions. </p>\n<p>·         Possesses excellent customer service skills, patient care skills, communication skills and problem-solving skills.</p>\n<p>·         Deals with demands in a fast paced, healthcare environment.</p>\n<p>·         Leads, trains, mentors and supports staff in a team-oriented environment.</p>\n<p>·         Maintains professional appearance.</p>\n<p>·         Demonstrates ability in dealing with items of confidentiality.</p>\n<p>·         Possesses good organizational skills.</p>\n<p>·         Provides nutrition care to neonate pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients based on principles of growth and development and life stages.</p>\n<p>·         Demonstrates confidentiality according to PHI regarding patient and co-worker information.</p>\n<p>·         Communicates effectively with neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult<em>, </em>and geriatric customers based on principles of growth and development and life stages<strong>.</strong></p>\n<p>·         Demonstrates competent leadership skills in assisting the Nutrition Assistant and Hostess staff with nutrition questions to ensure that patient nutrition standards are met and continually improved.</p>\n<p>·         Provides meaningful learning experiences for dietetic students.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Preferred</p>\n<p>·         Bilingual skills a plus.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>Additional Posting Information</h2>Hillsboro Medical Center believes in providing equal employment opportunities for all qualified individuals.
