Title of Position: Mental Health Counselor
Department: Office of Student Success
Reports to Supervisor: Director of Mental Health and Wellness
FLSA: Exempt

All administrators, faculty and staff are called to assist students in their formation to be Christ-like students and thus must embrace and advance the Holy Cross mission of the College in all professional activities.
Typical Schedule : This is a full-time position with normal workdays Monday through Friday. Extended hours and a flexible schedule may be necessary to meet peak periods, deadlines, and project requirements of the college, including occasional weekends. (All additional hours will be scheduled in advance.)
Purpose: The Mental Health Counselor is responsible for supporting and promoting student mental health in the Holy Cross College community, primarily through direct clinical services to students (individual and some group sessions), participation in workshops and program development as needed. Direct service to students is the primary task.
Essential Job Duties :
Embrace and advance the Catholic, Holy Cross mission of the college by ensuring that all services, programs and outreach are consistent with the mission and are implemented to achieve its goals. Provide one-on-one counseling for students at Holy Cross College. Participate in outreach to students through general workshops, and information tables, as needed. Participate in group counseling (support groups, specific focus groups, etc.) as needed. Participate in RA training. Participate in training all in the HCC community for individually responding to those experiencing mental health crisis; support awareness and implementation of the Red Folder. Participate in the implementation of the JED Strategic Plan. Collaboration with the staff nurse at HCC Health Clinic; assist with student health insurance policy protocol as needed. Collaborate in referring students to specialists if additional counseling or assistance is necessary; assist with case management protocol for students as needed. Support protocol for students’ access to additional mental health resources through Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame University, and other local institutions. Attend various Office of Student Success (OSS) team meetings and assist in activities and events associated with OSS, as required. Maintain strict confidentiality unless given written permission to have the information released or as provided by Indiana law and HIPPA. Maintain professional affiliation with organizations related to mental health care particularly for college-age students. Participate in clinical supervision with the Director of Mental Health and Wellness. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Mental Health and Wellness, and the Executive Director of the Office of Student Success. Minimum Education, Skills, and Ability:
Master’s degree in counseling or related field and professional counseling credentials (LLP, LMHC, LMHC-A). Licensed preferred, not required at date of hiring; expectation is to fulfill requirements for full licensure in the State of Indiana. Experience in: Providing clinical services Social service agencies and organizations. Familiarity with psychological assessment measures/tools for ADD/ADHD, mood disorders, addiction, and related conditions. Knowledge of ethical standards such as those of the APA, ACA, and NASW. Knowledge of HIPAA privacy standards. Familiarity with Indiana laws governing mental health disciplines, inter-agency referrals and interventions. Embrace and enhance the Catholic, Holy Cross mission of the college. A keen interest in collaboration within a liberal arts college setting. Strong written and oral communication skills. Microsoft Office familiarity. Ability to work flexible hours, which may include some evenings and weekends. Preferred
Experience with small, faith-based, residential liberal arts colleges, either professionally or educationally.
