As a rapidly growing organization operating on the cutting edge of science, we offer exceptional career growth and professional development opportunities, supported by world-class facilities and a competitive benefits package.</p>\n<h2>Position</h2>\n<p>The Health Physics Technician (HPT) performs technical functions related to NorthStar’s radiation safety program under the supervision of the Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) & Radiation Protection Manager. HPT work practices must comply with WI and Federal regulations, NorthStar radioactive material licenses and radiation device registrations, and NorthStar policies and procedures.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Assist with developing procedures used by NorthStar staff for compliance with the radiation, chemical, and general safety requirements and consistent with CGMP and FDA quality specifications.</li>\n <li>Perform radiation surveys of use and storage locations for radiation levels and radioactive contamination commensurate with license requirements.</li>\n <li>Maintain the radioactive material control documents that account for receipt, use, disposal, transfer, sealed sources, and leak tests.</li>\n <li>Order, cancel, and exchange radiation badges used by NorthStar staff.</li>\n <li>Assure radiation detection and measuring devices are properly calibrated for operational use.</li>\n <li>Train employees on radiation safety practices.</li>\n <li>Promote good safety practices and a culture of safety for employees to mitigate radiation and safety hazards.</li>\n <li>Audit radiation, chemical, and general safety programs for compliance with program requirements.</li>\n <li>Maintain records necessary to demonstrate compliance with radiation and safety programs for inspection by regulatory bodies.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Early Development</h2>\n<p>As a member of NorthStar's HP Tech team, the HP Technician will complete classroom, virtual, and OJT training via a formal documented training qualification program.  In the first 90 days to 6 months, the HP Technician will attend a variety of modes of training and shadow senior HP Technicians while working various shifts and environments.  The HP Technician training program culminates in an oral board with senior Health Physicists and RSOs and OJT exercises.</p>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p>Associates Degree in Radiation Safety, Physical Science, Safety and Health, or Engineering and two (2) years of experience performing radiation safety functions or handling radioactive materials; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Relevant military experience will also be considered.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong><em>Please note the company cannot provide immigration-related sponsorship (including H-1B status, O-1 status, Optional Practical Training support, etc.) for this position.  Each successful applicant will be required to complete the Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification, demonstrating both identity and employment authorization, on or before the first day of employment.  Under federal law, only truthful information may be provided on the Form I-9.</em></strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>Shift Information</h2>\n<p>This position supports production in a 24-hour manufacturing facility and periodically works a rotating schedule:</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Rotating shift work occurs periodically based on a rotation within the HP Technician team. Working Day shift, Second shift, and/or Night shift hours will be required. Day shift is 6:00AM–2:30 PM (5 x 8-hour shifts), Second shift is 12:00- 10:30 PM (4 x 10-hour shifts), and Night shift is 10:00PM–6:30AM (5 x 8-hour shifts). Nights, weekends and some holidays will be required to support production.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>When an HP Technician is not on the Day, Second, or Night Shift rotation, they will work core business hours Monday-Friday. Conditions may include:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Exposure to varying temperatures, both indoors (heated/air-conditioned spaces) and outdoors</li>\n <li>Noise levels range from quiet to loud, depending on the work area</li>\n <li>Specific vision abilities, including near vision, visual acuity, and color discrimination</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)</strong> is required and may include:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Respirators, gloves, safety glasses, and full protective clothing</li>\n <li>Compliance with cleanroom gowning protocols (e.g., removal of all jewelry, including piercings)</li>\n <li>Prohibition of cosmetics, fragrances (perfume, aftershave), and nail products, including polish, artificial nails, or extensions</li>\n</ul>\n<p>As a <strong>radiopharmaceutical manufacturing site</strong>, radiation may be present in the laboratory and production areas. Employees in this role may be required to:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Follow strict <strong>radiation safety procedures</strong></li>\n <li>Participate in <strong>dosimetry monitoring and bioassay testing</strong> as part of the company protocol</li>\n <li>Inform leadership of any health conditions that may affect product integrity, by cleanroom standards</li>\n</ul>\n<p>In addition, all cosmetics, fragranced products (perfumes, aftershave, etc.), and nail products are prohibited, including clear nail polish, artificial nails, and nail extenders.  </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The company is a radiopharmaceutical manufacturer and radiation may be present in manufacturing and laboratory areas.
