It also advocates for and offers a welcoming environment for underserved and vulnerable populations.</span><span style=\"font-family: verdana,sans-serif;\"><br></span></p><p id=\"isPasted\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana,sans-serif;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Position Summary:</span></strong><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\"> Works as part of the Care Team; Responsible to ensure highest quality of patient care. Provides </span></span><span style=\"font-family: verdana,sans-serif;\">support to the Nursing staff and Medical Providers in addressing the health care needs of our patients.</span></p><p><span style=\"font-family: verdana,sans-serif;\"><strong>The major duties of the position include, but are not limited to:</strong></span></p><p><span style=\"font-family: verdana,sans-serif;\"><strong>Direct Patient Care</strong></span></p><p><span style=\"font-family: verdana,sans-serif;\">&bull; Greets patients and brings them to the exam rooms and preps them for the medical provider</span></p><p><span style=\"font-family: verdana,sans-serif;\">&bull; Assists in the clinical care of patients including</span></p><p><span style=\"font-family: verdana,sans-serif;\">o Doing biopsies, paps, HRA</span></p><p><span style=\"font-family: verdana,sans-serif;\">o Phlebotomy, collection and processing of laboratory specimens</span></p><p><span style=\"font-family: verdana,sans-serif;\">o Vital sign collection, EKGs, Peak flow</span></p><p><span style=\"font-family: verdana,sans-serif;\">o Point of care testing: urine dipstick, fingerstick glucose, Rapid HIV</span></p><p><span style=\"font-family: verdana,sans-serif;\"><strong>Collaboration</strong></span></p><p><span style=\"font-family: verdana,sans-serif;\">&bull; Gathers medical information and reports to provider</span></p><p><span style=\"font-family: verdana,sans-serif;\">&bull; Interfaces with laboratories when necessary for patient care</span></p><p><span style=\"font-family: verdana,sans-serif;\">&bull; Ensures that lab results are available at the time of the visit</span></p><p><span style=\"font-family: verdana,sans-serif;\">&bull; Consults with medical providers at the beginning of each session/and or at a daily meeting to ensure optimum patient&nbsp;flow</span></p><p><span style=\"font-family: verdana,sans-serif;\">&bull; Informs providers when there are medication renewals; executes provider&rsquo;s orders; Makes referrals for patients</span></p><p><span style=\"font-family: verdana,sans-serif;\">&bull; Participates in interdisciplinary meetings to help determine policies affecting clinical care</span></p><p><span style=\"font-family: verdana,sans-serif;\">&bull; Assists practitioners in the monitoring and maintaining of standards of care</span></p><p><span style=\"font-family: verdana,sans-serif;\">&bull; Performs routine clinical administrative operations including follow-up on abnormal labs, referrals, calling patients,&nbsp;mailing letters, and faxing</span></p><p><span style=\"font-family: verdana,sans-serif;\"><strong>QI/QA</strong></span></p><p><span style=\"font-family: verdana,sans-serif;\">&bull; Participates in Quality Improvement activities</span></p><p><span style=\"font-family: verdana,sans-serif;\">&bull; Maintains clinical competence through participation in appropriate learning experiences</span></p><p><span style=\"font-family: verdana,sans-serif;\">Compliance</span></p><p><span style=\"font-family: verdana,sans-serif;\">&bull; Compliance with Infection Control policies and procedures</span></p><p><span style=\"font-family: verdana,sans-serif;\">&bull; Facilitates related services for health center patients as appropriate with respect to their confidentiality and privacy</span></p><p><span style=\"font-family: verdana,sans-serif;\"><strong>Maintenance of Clinic Equipment and Supplies</strong></span></p><p><span style=\"font-family: verdana,sans-serif;\">&bull; Operates and maintains autoclave</span></p><p><span style=\"font-family: verdana,sans-serif;\">&bull; Monitors the expiration of medical and laboratory supplies</span></p><p><span style=\"font-family: verdana,sans-serif;\">&bull; Monitors the temperature of vaccine and specimen refrigerators and freezers and takes appropriate actions during&nbsp;abnormal occurrences- e.g. abnormal temperature or electrical failure.
