The Sports Specialist is responsible for developing and delivering a diverse and engaging curriculum that encourages campers of all abilities to have fun and work together as a team while engaging in physical activity.&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Essential Job Functions</strong></p><ul><li>Maintains safety of all camper athletes while participating in specialty sports programs.</li><li>Create a safe, inclusive, nurturing, and engaging environment for campers.&nbsp;</li><li>Maintain a face-count of campers under your supervision at all times.</li><li>Promote the unique talents and diverse abilities of campers by establishing a welcoming environment.</li><li>Facilitate and actively engage in games, activities, and events with campers with a focus on good sportsmanship. &nbsp;</li><li>Monitor interactions between campers to ensure healthy dialogue and offer guidance on conflict resolution as needed.</li><li>Create a sense of belonging for campers through shared experiences and teambuilding activities.</li><li>Attend all mandatory YMCA staff meetings, team meetings and staff trainings.</li><li>Abide by all camp and YMCA policies &amp; procedures.</li><li>Actively promote camp and the Attleboro YMCA.</li><li>Assist with other duties as assigned.</li><li>Maintain a safe, clean, and organized program space, is&nbsp;punctual, arriving ready to run a sports program with ideas and equipment needed.</li><li>Assist the Camp Director, Assistant Director, and Program Coordinator with identifying and planning theme days and planning corresponding STEM activities.&nbsp;</li><li>Responds to challenges with possible solutions in a timely manner.</li><li>Remains calm, professional and objective when under pressure or when challenged by others.&nbsp;</li><li>Maintain positive rapport and open communication with staff, campers, and parents/guardians.&nbsp;</li><li>Promote and participate in all theme activities with enthusiasm.</li></ul><p><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p><p><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p><p><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p><p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>Must be at least 18 years old</li><li>Prior experience working with children in a day camp setting</li><li>Must be certified in CPR and First Aid</li><li>Ability to stay calm and respond effectively in an emergency</li><li>Quick and effective decision-making skills and strong communication skills</li><li>A positive, friendly attitude and strong interpersonal skills&nbsp;</li><li>Must be detail-oriented and able to communicate accurate information in a timely manner</li><li>A high level of maturity and responsibility&nbsp;<ul><li>Must maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information</li></ul></li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Work Environment and Physical Demands</strong></p><ul><li>Ability to walk, stand, and sit for long periods of time and in extreme weather conditions</li><li>Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling and walking</li><li>Ability to speak concisely and communicate effectively&nbsp;</li><li>Maintain high-level of physical and mental readiness</li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>YMCA Competencies (Leader)</strong></p><ul><li>Emotional Maturity: &nbsp;Demonstrates ability to understand and manage emotions effectively in all situations.</li><li>Inclusion: &nbsp;Values all people for their unique talents, and takes an active role in promoting practices that support diversity, inclusion, and global work, as well as cultural competence.</li><li>Communication &amp; Influence: &nbsp;Listens and expresses self effectively and in a way that engages, inspires, and builds commitment to the Y&rsquo;s cause.</li><li>Developing Self &amp; Others: &nbsp;Develops self and supports others (e.g., staff, volunteers, members, program participants), both formally and informally, to achieve their highest potential.</li></ul></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div>\n",
