Overview Kemin is currently hiring for an HVAC Technician at our Des Moines, Iowa campus. Under general guidance, ths role will be responsible for the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of campus facility equipment essential to building operations including, HVAC, boilers, chillers, fans, etc. This position will ensure all systems run efficiently, safely, and in compliance with applicable codes and regulations. Responsibilities Ensure safe and efficient operation of HVAC units, boilers, chillers, fans and pumps. Use Siemens & Trane Building Automation Systems (BAS) to monitor HVAC systems, respond to alarms, adjust settings to optimize efficiency and performance. Perform preventive maintenance on mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. Respond promptly to equipment failures, power outages, or building emergencies. Quickly diagnose and resolve equipment issues to minimize downtime. Document repair activities and ensure long-term fixes are implemented. Perform general facility maintenance, including plumbing, electrical and lighting. Assist in the training of junior staff members as needed. Maintain inventory to support continuous operation and preventative maintenance. Schedule 3rd party vendors when necessary for larger projects and/or to maintain compliance. Manage 3rd party vendors to ensure budget compliance. Keep accurate daily logs of equipment status, repairs, inspections and maintenance records and schedules. Adhere to all OHSA/safety/environmental regulations to maintain legal compliance. Report issues, updates, and completed work to supervisors or building management. Perform other duties and projects as assigned. Qualifications Education High School Diploma with 5+ years of relevant experience EPA Section 608 Universal Refrigerant Certification (current) Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations in the HVAC industry Ability to service & repair 25-Ton+equipment including RTUs, Splits, Chillers, VRF, Boilers. Have completed advanced training beyond high school that includes the completion of some technical training. Strong knowledge of boiler systems, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing. Advanced knowledge of applicable codes/regulations pertaining to assigned equipment and operations. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics. Ability to interact well with others in a team environment. Good written and oral communication skills. Basic understanding of English, both written and oral. Advanced computer skills (e.g., software, building automation and Microsoft Office). We are an equal opportunity employer.
