Position Title: Environmental Services Technician
Department: Environmental Services
Supervisor’s Title: Facility/ EVS Manager
I Position Summary: The Environment Service Department is responsible for maintaining the inside of the facility in a clean, sanitary, and attractive condition while following all safety practices, policies and procedure for each area of the facility.
II. Principal Functions and Responsibilities:
A. Following policies and procedures for daily cleaning and sanitizing all surfaces in the facility to include: furniture, equipment, woodwork, floors, counters, all areas of cabinets, door frames, sinks, toilets, phones, wheelchairs, beds, fixtures, TV’s, mirrors, windows and blinds, doors and walls, vents and fans.
B. Operates mechanical floor cleaner, polishes, vacuums, buffs, strips and waxes floors and follows schedule to maintain floors.
C. Daily wet/dry mops all hard floors.
D. Daily vacuums all carpeted areas.
E. Spot clean furniture
F. Uses a ladder as necessary for high work following proper procedures and safety standards.
G. Removes waste and soiled linens from areas and places in specified bags.
H. Gathers and disposes of trash and waste materials adhering to policies and safety procedures.
I. Moves furniture and other objects in order to clean effectively.
J. Performs terminal cleaning procedures of patient rooms, surgery and other areas of the facility as scheduled or upon needed.
K. Daily cleans occupied patient rooms
L. Cleaning of dismissal rooms to ready for new patients.
M. Daily cleans public restrooms.
N. Daily cleaning of Laboratory, X-ray Department, offices, dining room, clinic and emergency areas, Same Day Surgery, Surgery, conference rooms and lobby areas.
O. Cleaning up of bio hazard spills.
P. Will adhere to strict safety standards for infection control and physical well being.
Q. Will follow cleaning procedures established by the Department Supervisor . Environmental Services Page 2
R. Will maintain cleaning cart with cleaning supplies. All chemicals will be kept in “locked bin”. Carts, without locked bins, shall keep chemicals on the bottom shelf. Cart shall be in a " neat appearance."
S. Daily used rags and mops will be laundered, dried and restocked.
T. Staff will always present a neat and clean appearance. Shoes will be nonskid and fully cover the feet. Long hair must be off the shoulder and tied back. Badges will be worn in full view during working hours.
U. See Personnel Policies and Procedures for Overtime, PTO, break times - see Meals and Breaks, and Smoking Policy.
V. Leaving early must be pre-approved. W. Must help cover schedules during vacations and sick leaves.
X. Must keep records of daily census and dismissal rooms cleaned.
Y. Employee will attend meetings as required and participate on committees as directed.
Z. Employee will maintain positive and effective relations with co-workers, patients and visitors.
AA. Employee will perform other related duties as assigned.
