Description

FLSA: Non-Exempt Purpose of Classification: The purpose of this classification is to operate a water treatment plant, monitoring water daily in order to ensure safe, clean water for public use. Operates electrical and mechanical process equipment and performs electrical and mechanical repair and maintenance duties. Reports to the Water Plant Supervisor. Essential Functions: The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned. Operates plant electrical and mechanical process equipment: monitors water daily, ensuring safe, clean water for public use; performs electrical and mechanical repair and maintenance on buildings and appurtenances, as well as to the plant grounds; maintains clear well, tank levels and backwash filters; and cleans recovery and settling basins. Conducts laboratory tests and calculations as authorized under applicable certificate to test water parameters: logs results of tests as required; calibrates all turbid meter; and fills chemical tanks. Operates, utilizes and maintains an assortment of equipment, machinery and tools including service pumps, chemical pumps, compressors, hand tools, etc. Dispatches after hours and weekends. Assists with training and mentoring new-hires regarding plant policies, procedures, operations, and equipment. Additional Functions: Performs general plant cleaning, painting, and grounds maintenance. Performs other related duties as required.
