Description

This is an open pool posting and applicants will be contacted only if a suitable position becomes available. Pool may be used to fill vacancies for the Fall 2026 - Summer 2027. This pool expires 05/31/2027. Applicants wishing to remain in this pool past 05/31/2027, must reapply at that time. Position Summary: Candidates are sought to form a hiring pool for potential temporary full/part-time adjunct faculty positions in the College of Performing Visual Arts School of Art Design disciplines. Teaching assignments will be at the college level and include courses in art history; traditional studio arts; digital media, video, and game design; graphic design; and art education. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in one or more of the College of Performing and Visual Arts School of Art Design disciplines along with qualifying professional experience or a Master's degree in one or more of the College of Performing and Visual Arts School of Art Design disciplines. Preferred Qualifications: MFA or Doctoral degree in one or more of the College of Performing and Visual Arts School of Art Design disciplines. Prefer evidence of outstanding artistry and record of successful college-level teaching experience in the discipline of employment. A commitment to quality instruction at the college level is essential. Credentialing / School of Art and Design NASAD recognizes the Master of Fine Arts as the appropriate terminal degree for studio faculty. At the same time, the Association recognizes that some highly qualified artist-teachers may hold other academic degrees; others may not hold any academic degrees. In such cases, the institution should base appointments on experience, training, and expertise at least equivalent to those required for the Master of Fine Arts degree in the appropriate field. The terminal degree for Art History is a Ph.D. in the field. The terminal degree for Art Education is a Ph.D. or Ed.D. CAA affirms that in some cases, a significant record of professional achievement in areas such as creative activity, research, and publication is an indicator of qualifications, productivity, and professional awareness, and may be considered as a significant credential in lieu of an earned terminal degree. In addition, all faculty members must be able to communicate their knowledge and insight effectively to students. Teachers of any studio subject normally are or have been deeply involved as practicing artists or designers in the particular disciplines or specializations they are teaching. Some factors of tested experience that may be considered relevant include, but are not limited to: • Substantial graduate-level academic coursework and/or methodological training in a discipline appropriate to the field of instruction • A record of research, creative activity, scholarship, or achievement appropriate to the field of instruction • Related research experience in industry and/or the private sector • Practical experience in the art, business, legal, or political sector • Relevant clinical experience • Relevant certifications or additional credentials • Demonstrated competency or fluency in a relevant skill or skill set
