Students should expect to spend 8 to 10 hours per semester in The Writing Center for individualized study and tutorial assistance. Students compose informal and autobiographical essays after studying model works representing various cultures and writings. </span></span></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"> <strong><span style=\"background-color:#FFFFFF;\"><span style=\"color:#231f20;\">ENG 102 - Reading/Writing Connections </span></span></strong></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"background-color:#FFFFFF;\"><span style=\"color:#231f20;\">An introduction to research emphasizing those skills essential to production of the formal research paper. Students learn the principles of argumentation and close textual analysis, including the ability to summarize, paraphrase, annotate, document, and critically interpret sources. Students also study the nature of academic argument and oral presentation. </span></span></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"background-color:#FFFFFF;\"><span style=\"color:#212529;\">Most sections are offered in an on-campus academic classroom although some online sections may be offered. Each section meets for eight weeks, and there are two eight-week terms per semester.
