Description

PURPOSE OF JOB POSITION: The primary of this job position is to perform nursing activities and oversight of nursing staff within all the THA Whit Clinics including the Whit Family Clinic Fitz-Gerald, the Whit Family Clinic Linden, and the Whit Specialty Clinic in collaboration with Office Managers and providers at each clinic. In addition to oversight, perform RN duties to assist the clinic staff as the need demands. REQUIREMENTS: Must possess a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Alabama. A BSN degree is preferred. Prior work experience in healthcare is required. Must have good verbal and written communication skills. Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such attention. Must be capable of performing laboratory testing, EKGs, x-rays, and invasive procedures. Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with other personnel, patients, and family members. Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to patient care. Must be able to work harmoniously with other professional and ancillary staff. Must be willing to stay current with new information, procedures, and practices; and incorporate them into existing nursing practices. Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to work with difficult patients and family members. Must be certified in BLS or other certifications warranted. Must have the ability to plan, organize, implement, lead, direct nursing staff, and support staff in each clinic. Must have the flexibility to travel to each clinic as needed to perform job duties. RESPONSIBILITIES: The following responsibilities may not include the only duties you will be required to perform. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or is logical assignment to the position. Responsible for completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, charting, and request for lab or other testing as necessary. Prepares and administers medications as ordered by the medical staff and carefully records procedures in patient’s chart. Prepares the patient for physical exam by obtaining complaints, vital signs, and any other pertinent information that may be of benefit in the treatment of the patient. Creates and maintains an atmosphere of warmth and personal interest and creates a calm environment throughout the clinic. Performs nursing activities/procedures within his/her scope of practice in a professional manner as directed by the medical staff. Assures that each exam room is maintained in a clean and sanitary manner. Follows established infection control procedures in administering nursing care. Attends and participates in continuing educational programs designed to keep abreast of changes in the RN profession, as well as to maintain state licensure. Work directly with each clinic office manager and provider to manage daily operations of nursing units at each clinic. Actively participate in collaboration with office managers and interview candidates for nursing positions at each clinic. Analyze patient flow problems and assist in instituting corrective actions. Monitors and evaluates clinical staff performance in compliance with established job performance duties and responsibilities. Regularly interfaces with all staff to facilitate effective communication and promote quality improvement activities at each clinic. Monitors and maintains medication supply and ordering as needed at each clinic. Works with office managers to ensure medical equipment and supplies from Materials Management are readily available. Willing to work beyond normal working hours and assist clinic staff as necessary. Maintains confidentiality of all patients and patient information. Main office location will be at the Whit Fitz-Geral Clinic but must schedule time at other clinic locations as warranted to perform nurse manager or RN duties as required. Other duties assigned.
