    "description": "<h2>Job Description </h2>\n<p><strong>RELIEF CHIEF ENGINEER </strong></p>\n<p>Horseshoe Bay </p>\n<p>Staffing Pool</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>The Opportunity</strong>We are currently seeking applications from individuals interested in being considered for the Shipboard Management position of Chief Engineer in Horseshoe Bay. This opportunity offers a dynamic work environment where you will travel with the vessel and work a flexible schedule aligned with Horseshoe Bay fleet requirements, as directed by the supervisor on a monthly basis.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>The Role</strong></p>\n<p>Reporting to the Senior Chief Engineer, you add value in the following key areas:</p>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation of the ships propulsion and power systems</li>\n <li>Monitoring, maintaining, and documenting the condition of the ships structure</li>\n <li>Planning, directing, and implementing regular emergency repairs and alterations and assisting the overall drydock and refit program</li>\n <li>Planning, directing, and organizing assignments of the watch crew to work on machinery that may alter the performance of the vessel</li>\n <li>Supervising a comprehensive vessel engineering maintenance program including inspecting the appearance, condition, and function of all onboard equipment</li>\n <li>Liaising with regulatory bodies regarding ship inspections and conducting engineering crew inspections to ensure awareness and compliance with regulatory company standards</li>\n <li>Making operational judgements based on mechanical capability and conditions</li>\n <li>Leading, directing and training crews and conducting regular drills in responding to fire, safety, confined spaces and evacuation drills and other emergency situations</li>\n <li>Assisting the Engineering Superintendent in developing and implementing safety, operational, and employee performance improvements and efficiencies</li>\n <li>Ensuring security compliance with the vessel security plan, applicable legislation, regulations, and company policy and procedures, conducting security equipment inspections and audits as required, and reporting and correcting deficiencies</li>\n <li>Performing other duties as required</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p><strong>What you bring to the team</strong></p>\n<p>Education Requirements</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Transport Canada 1st Class Motor Certificate of Competency</li>\n <li>Proficiency in MS Office suite of applications</li>\n <li>Completion of supervisory and business courses is considered an asset</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Work Experience</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Experience as a Chief Engineer or watch engineer in a position at the equivalent certification level</li>\n <li>Demonstrated supervisory experience</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Competency Requirements</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Strong leadership demonstrated through reliable performance and positive Interactions with colleagues across the company</li>\n <li>A change agent driven to deliver outstanding results</li>\n <li>Ability to identify and analysis business Improvement opportunities that increase shareholder value</li>\n <li>Customer Service driven Individual</li>\n <li>Strong written and oral communication skills</li>\n <li>Excellent interpersonal skills, essential for leading and motivating a diverse workforce</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Join us!</strong></p>\n<p>If this sounds like your next great career move, please submit your cover letter and resume by<strong> July 3, 2026. </strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Additional information</strong></p>\n<p>The target salary range: $135,600 - $150,700 per annum.
