Description
What is the role?
As a BIM Technician within LEA’s Structures Division, you will support the design and delivery of building structural projects. You will develop 3D models and detailed drawings using Revit and AutoCAD, ensuring accuracy and coordination with multidisciplinary teams. This role involves collaborating closely with engineers, architects, and other consultants to produce high-quality, well-coordinated design documentation. You’ll also contribute to workflow improvements, maintain quality standards, and continue building your technical expertise in a supportive, growth-oriented environment. We’re currently engaged in major projects such as the Gardiner Expressway Rehabilitation, Peel Memorial Hospital Expansion, and the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension (ECWE).

In this role, your duties and responsibilities will include:
Develop and prepare models/drawings from concept sketches and engineering designs using Revit and AutoCAD.
Take ownership of the production of documentation packages and drawing sets and accurately record activities on projects.
Work with the BIM Manager and the Engineering team to improve workflow efficiencies through the use of software that leverages BIM.
Review the design of architects and other consultants to ensure the structural design is compatible and complete.
Maintain and modify structural design layouts through the project lifecycle.
Liaise with peers from the client and/or other consultants to gather project information to develop plans, sections, elevations, and details to deliver a coordinated design package.
Ensure quality control and assurance measures are followed throughout the project to maintain the accuracy of design elements, the presentation of technical details, the readability of drawings, and adherence to design standards.
Follow all health and safety policies to maintain a safe working environment.
Continuously grow professional skills and knowledge through training sessions, seminars, workshops, and involvement in professional associations to stay updated on the latest trends, software, and technology.
Assisting with managing other related assignments within the scope of the Structures Division.
The qualifications you need:
Graduate of an Engineering Design or Drafting Technology program, with a specialization in structural engineering.
Experience in structural design for building projects is essential.
Strong knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD.
Knowledge of MicroStation and/or Dynamo would be an asset.
Able to produce structural engineering models/drawings for buildings.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
A desire to learn and continually develop.
Team player, able to prioritize tasks with exceptional organizational skills.
Detail-oriented and strong problem-solving skills.
