Who We Are: The Met Christian Academy is a private Christian school located in Northwest Houston at The MET Church.  At TMCA, we partner with families to provide exceptional education devoted to Christian discipleship. Our elementary program will serve students in Transitional Kindergarten through 4th grade in the 2026-2027 school year. Our early childhood program, Lamb School, offers classes children 6 months through Pre-K fours. We also offer extended care classes. You are dedicated to providing education to children with a devotion to Christian discipleship. You exhibit a learning posture fueled by curiosity and a passion for growth. You display humility, relational intelligence, and a desire to influence for good. You demonstrate intentionality and have a heart for inviting others into meaningful relationships with God and each other. Essential Duties: Responsibilities for Instructional Planning: Translate the school's curriculum maps into specific objectives for lessons suitable to the age level and developmental needs of your students. Discern and implement the use of curricular materials and plan teaching/learning experiences that help each student achieve the stated objectives. Effectively construct units that help students see wholeness and relevance in learning. Create and identify lessons that connect biblical principles to concepts about God's world. Utilize a variety of teaching strategies to match the learning styles of the students. Choose content that helps students see the variety and the integrity of God's creation. Proactively select the means of assessment to measure students' learning for a lesson or unit. Expectation of Classroom Instruction: Effective class time management utilizing activities that engage students' attention and have clear purpose. Provide intentional directions and well-organized examples and explanations. Listen carefully to students' ideas and apply them to the lesson. Use questions and explanations that promote clear thinking and build awe in students. Show interest and wonder in all learning through gestures, body movement, and voice inflection. Implement Christian Worldview Standards into curriculum planning Management of Student Relations: Compose useful analogies to connect what students are learning to what they have already learned. Establish a climate of love and care. Define responsible Christian behavior for students, including guidelines and consequences for good and bad behavior in the classroom. Help students learn self-discipline through appropriate encouragement, correction, chastening, and counseling. Provide organized learning that helps students support and learn from each other. Qualifications: You are a fully committed follower of Jesus Christ. You faithfully attend a local church whose fundamental beliefs are in agreement with The MET Church and the Statement of Faith of this school. You possess a sufficient biblical knowledge which informs the teaching of Has a valid Texas State teaching certificate in elementary education. Willing to acquire ACSI teaching certificate within a year of teaching at TMCA. Holds a bachelor’s degree or higher in education. 2 years teaching experience in elementary education strongly preferred You will accept and support the policies of The Met Christian Academy, its educational philosophy, and objectives. You can demonstrate a collaborative approach with administrators, faculty, staff, students, and parents. You can communicate, both verbally and written, with integrity, excellence, and effectiveness. Schedule and Requirements This is a full-time, exempt position.  TMCA holds classes September through May.  Teachers will not work June and July but must be available in August for TMCA training and preparation for the upcoming school year (work schedule and dates to be outlined in teacher’s contract).
