Description

Job Summary: The ElderAccessLine Attorney will play a crucial role in providing legal guidance, supervision, and strategic direction within a team of attorneys and paralegals. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. Evaluates Centralized Intake Unit (CIU) applications to determine acceptance and level of service or representation; identifies and gathers other information to assist in determining case acceptance; formulates legal advice and recommendations based on the investigation, interviews, and legal research; educates clients regarding their legal options and the consequences of each, as well as the processes and procedures involved in representing the client's interests. Maintains knowledge of the current developments in the various substantive areas of law as they affect clients and the client community, including issues facing elders. Correctly applies and complies with policies, procedures and mission statement and assists in implementing firm goals. Complies with Legal Services Corporation (LSC) regulations and record keeping in all the cases the individual attorney handles and activities in which the ElderAccessLine® Attorney is involved. Ensures supervisees comply with LSC regulations and record keeping in all cases handled and activities in which they are involved. · Assists Managing Attorney to train, supervise, and advise CIU intake paralegals. Responds to questions regarding intake and compliance from all firm staff. Assists with managing day to day work flow of CIU tasks. Make calls on the AccessLine or ElderAccessLine® as needed Conducts outreach to the elder community. Maintains positive relationships with other agencies serving elders of the low-income population. Maintains positive relationships with other legal programs serving elders. Assists with maintaining question and advice scripts and other documentation necessary for CIU work. Other administrative tasks as necessary.
