JOB SUMMARY
This paragraph summarizes the general nature, level and purpose of the job.
Provides enterprise-level leadership for centralized staffing, scheduling, and workforce deployment functions across Stanford Medicine Children’s Health inpatient and ancillary departments. This role ensures continuous coverage, operational efficiency, compliance with institutional policies, collective bargaining agreements, and service excellence. The Manager partners closely with clinical and operational leaders and provides direct leadership to supervisors responsible for Staffing Office operations, the Float Nursing Assistant team, and the Patient Companion team. This is a non-clinical role aligned to business and operations job architecture.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the hospital's policies and procedures, including its Service Standards and its Code of Conduct.
*Provides leadership and oversight for 24/7 centralized staffing and scheduling operations supporting inpatient units.
*Ensures effective workforce deployment aligned with patient care needs, service standards, and labor agreements.
*Directly manages supervisors overseeing the Staffing Office, Scheduling Team, and Central Float Teams
*Establishes clear performance expectations; conduct regular performance reviews; support professional development and succession planning.
Partner with clinical, nursing, and operational leaders to resolve staffing challenges and optimize coverage.
*Leads operational planning, workflow optimization, and process improvement initiatives within staffing and scheduling functions.
*Ensures compliance with institutional policies, regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards.
*Develops and monitors productivity metrics and staffing efficiency benchmarks.
*Oversees timecard management, scheduling workflows, and workforce reporting processes.
*Supports organizational change initiatives impacting workforce operations and staffing models.
*Leads recruitment, onboarding, training, and ongoing development of staffing and support teams.
*Ensures consistent application of HR policies, labor regulations, and performance management practices.
*Addresss employee relations issues, including corrective action and grievance response, in partnership with HR.
*Serves as a people-focused leader promoting engagement, accountability, equity, and teamwork.
*Acts as an operational subject matter expert for staffing and scheduling practices.
*Participates in cross-functional initiatives supporting employee engagement, workforce sustainability, and operational excellence.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a work related field/discipline from an accredited college or university. Master’s degree preferred in healthcare administration, business administration, operations management, or related field.
Experience: Five (5) years’ experience of progressively responsible and directly related work experience
License/Certificate: No clinical licensure required.
KNOWLEDGE
These are the observable and measurable attributes and skills required to perform successfully the essential functions of the job and are generally demonstrated through qualifying experience, education or licensure/certification.

Minimum to Midpoint Range (Hourly): $45.98 to $60.96
