    "requisitionDescription": "<div><div><div><div><div><div><div><p id=\"isPasted\"><strong>Job Summary &nbsp;</strong></p><p>Provide direct and indirect patient care services that meet the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care; meets the communication needs of patient and family; provide care that reflects initiative and responsibility indicative of professional expectations, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse. &nbsp;Maintain regulatory agency requirements, nursing and hospital policies, procedures, and standards. Answer phone calls incoming to the unit by patients and families. . &nbsp; Communicate with physicians and team members about changes in patient&rsquo;s clinical condition, including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology. &nbsp;Must be able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment and able to perform general clinical or nursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision. To provide safe, courteous and competent patient care.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Essential Functions</strong></p><ul><li>Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization</li><li>Performs assigned patient care and observation duties under the direction of an RN or LPN.</li><li>Monitors and operates patient care equipment.</li><li>Performs specialized technical patient care procedures.</li><li>Perform blood draws competently and expediently with as little patient discomfort as possible</li><li>Record phlebotomy requisitions&nbsp;</li><li>Identify the patient by comparing patient information on the requisition to the patient&rsquo;s identification band before venipuncture is performed</li><li>Display courteous, professional manner towards patients, co-workers, nursing and medical staff</li><li>Label and record all test tubes, log procedures and file paperwork</li><li>Demonstrate knowledge of color top tube to use, volume of blood needed and test requirements</li><li>Follow standard precautions at all times</li><li>Dispose all sharp instruments in a rigid sharp container</li><li>Clean and supply venipuncture trays</li><li>Maintain clean work area</li><li>Order supplies as needed</li><li>Complete assigned duties efficiently and in a timely manner</li><li>Prioritize STAT, scheduled, and outpatient orders</li><li>Seek guidance and direction when necessary</li><li>Demonstrate the value of team concept on a consistent basis</li><li>&nbsp;</li><li>Maintains a clean and safe environment.</li><li>Communicates with patients and members of the nursing team to relay appropriate information and provide effective patient care.</li><li>Reinforces patient and family teaching.</li><li>Participates in the orientation of staff to the unit and precepts nursing technicians on the unit.</li><li>Maintains hospital and unit specific competencies.</li><li>Maintains BLS certification.</li><li>As part of a patient focused service, promotes a supportive and healing environment to enhance patient and staff satisfaction.</li><li>Assists in emergency situations as directed by an RN or LPN.</li><li>Ensures that prescribed measures related to hygiene, comfort and rest are provided.</li><li>Complies with Standard Precautions guidelines and all other Infection Control procedures and safety standards to maintain and promote a clean and healthy work environment.</li><li>Assists in the use of bedside blood glucose machines, bag-valve-mask devices, anti-embolism stockings, pneumatic compression stockings, oxygen, suction equipment, and incentive spirometer.</li><li>Operates converter chairs, lifts, scales, beds, stretchers, wheelchairs, non-invasive BP monitors, automatic thermometers, sphygmomanometers, pulse oximeters, and computers.</li><li>Performs vital signs and measures patient intake and output, records information.</li><li>Records blood glucose results.</li><li>Assist patients with activities of daily living, including dressing, bathing, toileting and feeding.</li><li>Reports observations and unusual information regarding patients to RN/LPN.</li><li>Maintains, observes, and performs site care of common drainage tubes and devices.</li><li>Observes color, consistency, amount, and odor from drainage tube.</li><li>Assists RN/LPN in providing patient care according to individual needs by observing IV site appearance, discontinuing peripheral INTs, performing simple wound care, assisting with range of motion, ambulation, patient transfers, diet/feeding, elimination, hygiene, performing pre-and -post-operative procedural care, discontinuing foley catheters, assisting with respiratory functions/procedures, and assisting with special procedures at the bedside.</li><li>Participates in shift report.</li><li>Prepares room to receive patient by setting up equipment and ensuring neatness and cleanliness of room.</li><li>Transports and collects patient specimens throughout hospital, and contributes to the completion of admission, discharge, transfer, and postmortem care.</li><li>Transports patients throughout hospital as needed</li><li>Utilizes appropriate technology to complete processes.</li><li>Participates in unit-based and system-wide Performance Improvement Program.</li><li>Supports cost efficient/effective delivery of care.</li><li>Serves as a resource/model through compliance with standards of care and with Department of Nursing and Hospital policies and procedures.</li><li>May participate in research projects impacting patient care areas.
