The Floor Care Specialist also assists department leadership in conducting department-certified training for Floor Care Specialists and HK II nominees/applicants.</p>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>Education:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li><p>High school diploma or equivalent preferred.</p></li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Licensure/Certification/Registry:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li><p>Certified Health Care Environmental Services Technician (CHEST) preferred.</p></li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Experience:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li><p>Minimum of 2 years of floor care experience, including running floor machines, stripping floors, shower scrubbing, bonnet buffing, extracting, and carpet spotting.</p></li>\n <li><p>Floor care experience in a healthcare setting preferred.</p></li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li><p>Able to work effectively and efficiently with limited supervision.</p></li>\n <li><p>Strong multi-tasking and prioritization skills.</p></li>\n <li><p>Able to lift objects and climb ladders; role requires moderate to heavy physical effort.</p></li>\n <li><p>Proficient in operating all floor care equipment.</p></li>\n <li><p>Demonstrated proficiency in hospital housekeeping duties.</p></li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p><strong>Cleaning Knowledge and Techniques</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li><p>Understands how soiling occurs and the difference between soluble and insoluble soil and what occurs during the cleaning process.</p></li>\n <li><p>Understands the specific use of all housekeeping chemicals and their dilution rates.</p></li>\n <li><p>Proficient in identifying all flooring and fabric types typically used in a healthcare setting and assessing their condition.</p></li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong> Floor Care and Surface Cleaning</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li><p>Performs hard surface floor dust mopping and wet/microfiber mopping.</p></li>\n <li><p>Performs shower scrubbing, stripping, and refinishing of all hard floor surfaces.</p></li>\n <li><p>Performs carpet care including spotting, bonnet buffing (shampooing), and extraction.</p></li>\n <li><p>Vacuums carpeted surfaces with an upright vacuum cleaner.</p></li>\n <li><p>Operates all departmental floor care equipment (upright vacuums, battery-operated vacuums, conventional floor machines, electric burnishers, auto-burnishers, auto-scrubbers, finish applicators, wet/dry vacuums, etc.).</p></li>\n <li><p>Utilizes Tru-D ultraviolet light device and is certified to train other staff in its use.</p></li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Patient Room and Facility Cleaning</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li><p>Cleans all in-patient rooms daily and performs discharge/transfer cleaning procedures.</p></li>\n <li><p>Performs isolation cleaning and precaution procedures using appropriate PPE.</p></li>\n <li><p>Cleans between cases and terminal cleaning in in-patient and out-patient special procedure areas.</p></li>\n <li><p>Cleans laboratory areas, pharmacy clean (IV) room, stairways, elevators, offices, conference rooms, furniture, and public/non-public restrooms and locker rooms.</p></li>\n <li><p>Cleans intravenous pumps (IV or Sigma Smart Pumps).</p></li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Waste Management and Safety</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li><p>Handles and disposes of all waste streams, including regulated waste; operates the autoclave in the absence of the recycling/waste coordinator.</p></li>\n <li><p>Cleans up hazardous material spills as required by leadership.</p></li>\n <li><p>Follows departmental safety procedures with chemicals and equipment use; reports any discrepancies.</p></li>\n <li><p>Reports any injuries observed or obtained to department leadership and submits injury reports as required.</p></li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Equipment and Maintenance</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li><p>Maintains all cleaning equipment (carts, vacuums, pagers, etc.) per departmental guidelines.</p></li>\n <li><p>Performs preventive maintenance and minor repairs on departmental equipment.</p></li>\n <li><p>Operates commercial laundry equipment and is certified to train other staff in its use.</p></li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Training and Leadership Assistance</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li><p>Assists leadership with department-certified training of Floor Care Specialists and HK II nominees/applicants.</p></li>\n <li><p>Assists and/or covers for the department Labor Technician with furniture moves and set-ups.</p></li>\n <li><p>Coordinates and delegates daily scheduled project work in the absence of leadership.</p></li>\n <li><p>Assists leadership with scheduling project work and informs leadership of current and future supply needs.</p></li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Administrative and Compliance Duties</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li><p>Keeps cleaning/project carts and housekeeping closets clean, stocked, and organized per department policy.</p></li>\n <li><p>Reports facility repair issues (wall patching, painting, ceiling tile replacement, leaking fixtures, burnt-out lights, etc.) to leadership or submits appropriate work orders.</p></li>\n <li><p>Follows and monitors all departmental policies, procedures, and communication boards.</p></li>\n <li><p>Completes all required trainings, meetings, and annual computer-based learning modules within designated timeframes.</p></li>\n <li><p>Performs all duties proficiently and within designated timeframes.</p></li>\n <li><p>Performs other related work as required or requested.</p></li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Customer Service</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li><p>Performs A.I.D.E.T. (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank you) and Greet and Feet techniques per policy and understands their impact on third-party patient survey processes.</p></li>\n</ul>",
