    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>Reporting directly to the Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs, the Director of Periodontics at the Touro College of Dental Medicine will have the responsibility for the curriculum of Periodontics taught on the predoctoral level. The Director will guide student doctor/patient interaction and assist in transition to clinical practice as it pertains to the fundamentals of Periodontics. Appointment rank commensurate with qualifications. The Director of Periodontics provides strategic, academic, and clinical leadership for the Periodontics within the dental school. The Director is responsible for advancing excellence in predoctoral periodontal education, clinical care, research, faculty development, and service in alignment with the mission of the institution and accreditation standards.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Ensure compliance of the Periodontal Faculty in their teaching methodologies both in the clinic and in the classroom</li>\n <li>Monitor student progress, and performance in their acquisition of periodontal skills</li>\n <li>Provide clinical care and teaching</li>\n <li>Model and advise students on professionalism and patient management techniques</li>\n <li>Review each student's performance in the periodontal clinic on a regular basis</li>\n <li>Assists students to establish and reach patient treatment goals</li>\n <li>Determine individual student needs and related time utilization</li>\n <li>Assist students in rendering care to patients</li>\n <li>Demonstrate procedures to students as needed</li>\n <li>Report instances of misconduct as appropriate</li>\n <li>Ensure adequate clinical coverage by approving faculty time away in all clinical practices</li>\n <li>To ensure calibration and the practice of clinical faculty in:\n  <ul>\n   <li>Clinical protocols in clinical areas</li>\n   <li>Infection Control Compliance</li>\n   <li>Reviewing student activity as required</li>\n   <li>Overseeing Clinical Formative and Summative Examination Process</li>\n  </ul></li>\n <li>Attend periodic meetings with other Directors or Clinical Practice Leaders</li>\n <li>Possible membership on the Clinical Policy Committee</li>\n <li>Possible membership on the Year 3-4 Student Academic Promotion Review Committee (SAPRC 3-4)</li>\n <li>Stay abreast of faculty operations within the periodontal clinic, ensuring that there is appropriate coverage, administrative support when needed, and resolve to any clinical issues</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<h4>Education/Experience</h4>\n<ul>\n <li><strong>Required Qualifications</strong>\n  <ul>\n   <li>D.D.S./DMD from a CODA-accredited dental school or equivalent.</li>\n   <li>Certificate of training and educationally qualified from an ADA-accredited specialty program in Periodontics.</li>\n   <li>Dental License Registration; must be eligible for licensure in the state of New York and/or New Mexico.</li>\n  </ul></li>\n <li><strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong>\n  <ul>\n   <li>Previous teaching experience.</li>\n   <li>DEA number.</li>\n   <li>Board Eligible or Certified.</li>\n   <li>A track record of scholarly activity and outstanding patient care, as well as demonstration of or likely commitment to diversity-related teaching/research/service.</li>\n   <li>Engagement and familiarity in curriculum development and digital dentistry technology and experience in faculty calibration.</li>\n  </ul></li>\n</ul>\n<h4>Knowledge/Skills/Abilities</h4>\n<ul>\n <li>A high degree of interpersonal competency: Professionalism, diplomacy, judgement and discretion required.</li>\n <li>Demonstrated ability to develop positive and cooperative relationships with students, faculty and colleagues.</li>\n <li>Ability to organize tasks and delegate as necessary.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Maximum Salary</h2>USD $173,957.00/Yr.\n<h2>Minimum Salary</h2>USD $139,165.00/Yr.",
