    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p><strong>Full time, 10 hour shifts: 6:30a-5:00p</strong></p>\n<h2>Description</h2>\n<p>The Neurodiagnostic ICU / LTM Specialist I is a mid-level position in the intensive care unit. The ICU / LTM Specialist I has passed examination by ABRET Neurodiagnostic Credentialing and Accreditation (ABRET) and proven competence to obtain a credential in electroencephalography (R. EEG T.).</p>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>This credentialed specialist provides findings, results, and a descriptive analysis according to the Emory Healthcare policy and procedure manual.</li>\n <li>The ICU/LTM Specialist I can perform routine ICU/cEEG under indirect technical supervision.</li>\n <li>The ICU/LTM Specialist I will maintain patient safety during clinically significant events, and other related duties.</li>\n <li>Communication through technical impressions of EEGs performed and appropriate escalation of communication of clinically relevant events in real time is essential.</li>\n <li>Must participate in on-call rotation at designated locations.</li>\n <li>Maintains optimal recording integrity, equipment maintenance and troubleshooting, etc.</li>\n <li>Performs other duties as assigned.</li>\n <li>During EEG procedures for which competence has not been achieved, the ICU/LTM Specialist I works under general technical supervision.</li>\n <li>Performs rEEG, cEEG, aEEG, NCV.</li>\n <li>Performs EEG monitoring during: WADA, PET, ictal SPECT, TILT, EcOG.</li>\n <li>Understands EEG technology concepts as well as understanding intermediate techniques for LTME; sets up for scalp EEG recording using the International 10-20 (or modified 10-10) System of electrode placement; performs activating procedures (hyperventilation, photic stimulation, sleep) according to Emory Healthcare policy and procedures.</li>\n <li>Sets up equipment for ICU/cEEG recordings and perform application of electrodes utilizing International 10-20 (or modified 10-10) System of electrode placement.</li>\n <li>Performs activation procedures (hyperventilation, photic stimulation) as appropriate.</li>\n <li>Is a valuable member of the epilepsy monitoring unit team working closely and collaborating with nurses, physicians, and other medical staff caring for the patient.</li>\n <li>Observes patient with video recording equipment; ensuring camera is focused, lighting levels and microphone are appropriately set to record the best possible recording. Recognizes and documents significant clinical events and electroencephalographic patterns and relevant changes in EEG over time following Emory Healthcare policy and procedures regarding critical test results.</li>\n <li>Edits and prunes master EEG files.</li>\n <li>Educates the patient and family regarding their cEEG monitoring procedure as well as interacting on a level appropriate to the patients age and mental capacity.</li>\n <li>Documents description of the patients events and pertinent history to include current and previous medications, family history, surgeries, skull defects, etc. into the patients EEG record.</li>\n <li>Monitors and maintains optimum recording integrity; troubleshoots acquisition equipment to identify and eliminate or monitor artifacts as they occur to ensure quality recording.</li>\n <li>Communicates at shift-hand-off pertinent information regarding pending orders and currently recording patients and any other information that ensures a smooth transition of care between technologists.</li>\n <li>Ensures EEG equipment is clean, stocked and ready for deployment at all times when not in use.</li>\n <li>Completes all administrative tasks associated with performing neurodiagnostic procedures.</li>\n <li>Monitors par stock levels of supplies, restocking when needed.</li>\n <li>Participates in on-call rotation.</li>\n <li>Participates in research projects, conferences, department in-services/lectures earning at least 10 ACE CEUs per year.</li>\n <li>Other related duties as assigned that are consistent with patient and technical care for this level.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Must have all of the following in addition to being BLS certified: BLS Certification and credential in electroencephalography (R. EEG T.)</li>\n <li>Three or more years experience in the neurodiagnostic field which includes 1 year experience in LTM/ICU/cEEG monitoring.</li>\n <li>Well-developed PC knowledge and skill.</li>\n <li>High school graduate or equivalent.</li>\n <li>Graduate from a CAAHEP accredited Neurodiagnostic Technology (NDT) program or a Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university is desired.</li>\n <li>Well-developed PC knowledge and skill.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium): 20-50 lbs; 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 50 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks. ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Factors affecting environment conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock, Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation, Shift work, Travel may be required.
