Our mission is to offer a safe, reliable, and enjoyable ferry experience for passengers transiting the Long Island Sound barrier.</p><p>The Bridgeport Port Jefferson Ferry is seeking highly qualified individuals to join our team as Dock Workers in Port Jefferson, NY. &nbsp;Duties and responsibilities are outlined below: &nbsp;</p><p><strong>Dock Worker</strong></p><p><strong>Reports to:</strong></p><p>The Dock Worker in Port Jefferson is directly responsible and accountable to the Dock Supervisor.</p><p>The Dock Worker in Bridgeport is directly responsible and accountable to the Dock Supervisor.</p><p><strong>Supervises:</strong></p><p>None</p><p><strong>Description of Duties:</strong></p><p>The Dock Worker helps to ensure smooth and efficient loading and unloading of vehicles, maintains the cleanliness of the loading dock and performs other duties assigned.</p><p>Meet and greet incoming customers. Give directions and advice to ferry passengers.</p><p>Position cars to ensure efficient and safe board of the ferry.</p><p>Perform routine maintenance tasks on the dock.</p><p>Perform security sweeps of the ferry terminal, loading dock and parking lots.</p><p>Inspect vehicles as deemed necessary</p><p>Maintain knowledge of security procedures and perform same as required</p><p>Handle ship lines, freight and ramp operations</p><p>Run errands as requested</p><p>Perform additional duties as assigned</p><p>Dockworkers in Bridgeport, CT are also responsible for:</p><p>Driving the shuttle bus to escort passengers from off-site parking lot to the ferry loading dock</p><p>Other duties as assigned</p><p><strong>Minimum Requirements:</strong></p><p>HS degree or equivalent</p><p>Valid TWIC card or proof of application for TWIC card.</p><p>Must be willing to apply, obtain and maintain United States Merchant Mariners Credential (MMC)</p><p>Must be willing to work weekends, holidays, day and evening shifts.</p><p><strong>Physical Requirements:</strong></p><p>Must be able to handle and throw lines</p><p>Must have the ability to stand and perform duties outdoors in all weather conditions.</p><p><strong>Hourly Salary:</strong></p><ul><li>$21.99 an hour</li></ul><p><strong>FLSA Status:</strong></p><p>Non-Exempt</p><p>*This position description does not promise or imply that the functions listed are the only duties to be performed or that the position may not change or be eliminated.
