Description
Job Summary: Under the direction of the Director of Behavioral Health (DBH), the Licensed Behavioral Health Therapist (LBHT) of Omni Family Health (Omni) provides professional healthcare to a growing network of state-of-the-art health centers serving California’s Central Valley. As a member of the organization’s Behavioral Health Department, the LBHT provides counseling, therapy, and support to individuals, groups, and families, helping them address and manage their mental health concerns.
Job Duties:
Provides diagnostic assessment and treatment to patients experiencing a wide variety of behavioral health concerns in an outpatient setting. Provides and facilitates a full range of psychotherapy services with functions in such areas as counseling, protective services, and family services. Screens and performs comprehensive mental health assessments to evaluate a patient’s mental state accurately for proper diagnoses. Formulates diagnoses and develops individualized treatment utilizing therapeutic techniques such as, but not limited to, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, and Trauma-Focused Therapy. Carefully monitors patient progress throughout the duration of treatment and modifies accordingly. Presents case information to department director and other vital team members of the behavioral healthcare team regarding patient’s family and social background pertinent to diagnosis and treatment. Refers patients to other mental healthcare providers as necessary. Utilizes various software programs, including an electronic health record (EHR), to document work in accordance with standards in the areas of diagnostic evaluations, progress notes, treatment plans, discharge procedures, and other pertinent patient care data. Acts as program consultant. Provides consultation and education about behavioral health issues and treatment options. Manages caseload and other tasks to meet both qualitative and quantitative performance expectations. Complies with organizational, departmental, state/federal guidelines and all regulatory agency policies and procedures. Adheres to and upholds the ethical standards and practice guidelines of the profession. Participates in education and other activities necessary to maintain competency in clinical work. Remains knowledgeable of the latest methodologies in counseling to provide patients with the best possible care. Assists in efforts to continuously improve by assuming responsibility for identifying and bringing to the attention of responsible entities operational problems and/or inefficiencies. Ensures the department provides cohesive support to the mission, vision, and core values while delivering superior customer service. Works closely with all corporate branches, divisions, and/or departments in accordance with Omni’s policies and procedures. Other duties and/or responsibilities as the LBHT may be assigned from time to time. Some travel may be required. Additional Duties:
Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Compliance: Responsible for maintaining abreast of and in compliance with all HIPAA regulations and requirements. Compliance: Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations. Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement (QA/QI): Participate as required in QA/QI activities and contribute towards the overall quality improvement initiatives of the organization. Information Technology (IT): May be required to learn and use the electronic health record and its components as required by the job functions and highlighted in the policies and procedures. These components include NextGen, Practice Management System (PMS), Quality Systems Inc. (QSI), and other electronic features as they are developed and implemented, as applicable to work environment. Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH): All employees will participate in PCMH at Omni Family Health. Audits: Contributes to required Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), Operational Site Visit (OSV), The Joint Commission (JC), and other audit events. Qualifications, Education, and Experience:
Master’s Degree in Counseling, Psychology, or related field. Current and valid license to practice as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) issued by the California Board of Behavioral Science (BBS) . Two (2) years of post-graduate mental health therapy experience within the last five (5) years , preferably in an ambulatory health center. Skills/Competencies:
Communicates well (written and verbal), delivers presentations, has good listening skills. Good listener, committed to finding solution to problems, works well with difficult people. Meets deadlines, works independently, accountable, maintains focus, punctual, good attendance record. Builds strong relationships, is flexible/adaptable, works well with others, solicits feedback. Understands facets of job, aware of duties and responsibilities, keeps job knowledge current. Honest, accountable, maintains confidentiality. Must be alert and respect confidentiality of information of all types “general personnel, and/or patient related information.” Promotes and believes in Omni’s mission statement.
