As a underwriting specialist, you will be responsible for driving profitable results within the commercial auto portfolio on a national level. Within scope for role will be interactions with various internal business units including other underwriting teams, claims, actuarial as well as external relationship management with brokerages and producers. As part of a small and specialized team, your efforts will be noticed as you play a significant role in the portfolio results and direction.</p><br /><p><b>How you will create an impact</b></p><br /><p>Reporting to the Canadian Regional Manager – Commercial Automobile and Transportation will assist in leading a team of auto and transportation underwriting professionals, collaborate closely with distribution, claims, actuarial and other internal stakeholders to support profitable growth and position AIG as a market leader.</p><br /><ul><li>People Leadership: Lead, coach, and develop a team of auto and transportation underwriters to achieve underwriting excellence and profitable results.</li><li>Managing broker partners relationships and the respective portfolios.</li><li>Provide mentoring and training to underwriters.</li><li>Assist with monitoring regulatory changes and implementation within the division protocols, and processes.</li><li>Foster a culture of collaboration, inclusivity, and continuous learning.</li><li>Market Presence: build, solidify and lead broker and client engagements, and produce new business by working with our broker network to source new opportunities</li><li>Ensure you and the team’s adherence to all standards including service level agreements for premium processing, policy issuance, file maintenance and underwriting governance.</li><li>Underwrite Canadian Auto policies including Owned Auto, Non-Owned Auto, Garage, Lessor’s Contingent and CGL policies.</li><li>Responsible for analyzing the risk and ensuring compliance with Casualty underwriting guidelines and regulatory requirements.</li><li>Production of profitable new, and renewal business.</li><li>Participate in special underwriting projects as needed.</li></ul><br /><h2 style=\"color:!important\"><b><span style=\"font-size:inherit\">What you’ll need to succeed:</span></b></h2><br /><ul><li>Prior management or team-lead mentoring experience with strong ability to lead and manage a team of underwriters.</li><li>Proven ability to deliver difficult messages whilst influencing positive outcomes.</li><li>General understanding and awareness of people’s behaviors, their complexities and how to deal with them.</li><li>Organized, highly motivated, self-starter who takes responsibility for own performance and demonstrates leadership in their approach to work, training and knowledge seeking.</li><li>10&#43; years of experience in casualty and auto underwriting specifically Commercial Auto and Transportation risks.</li><li>Knowledgeable on the transportation industry, litigation trends in Canada and USA.</li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills.</li><li>Excellent customer service and negotiation skills.</li><li>Strong decision-making skills.</li></ul><br /><p>Ready to take your career to the next level?
