For Syracuse, all means all. The School Board and Syracuse community have charged the Superintendent with improving student achievement, and she is seeking a dedicated and diverse team of educators to partner with her in moving the district toward its goals.</p>\n    <p><span>The Syracuse City School District represents 35 schools and programs, including 6 high schools, 6 middle schools, 6 K-8 schools, 13 elementary schools, and 4 alternative education programs, serving approximately 19,000 students Pre-K–12. Of these students, 82.3% qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, 20.1% are served by the Office of Special Education, and 83% are students of color.&nbsp;</span></p>\n    <p><strong>**PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS ROLLING POSTING FOR ONGOING RECRUITMENT FOR CUSTODIAL WORKER.**</strong></p>\n    <p>&nbsp;<strong>LOCATION:&nbsp; </strong>Locations will be vary depending on availability.</p>\n    <p><strong><u>DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS</u></strong></p>\n    <p><strong>&nbsp;</strong>Performs routine manual work involving building cleaning and general labor tasks. Under immediate supervision, an employee in this class does routine manual work requiring efficient performance of repeated building cleaning tasks. All work is reviewed and specific instructions are given on each new assignment by a superior. This position involves no supervision. Does related work as required</p>\n    <p><strong>&nbsp;<u>TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES</u></strong></p>\n    <ul>\n     <li>Scrubs, mops, waxes, sweeps, and polishes floors.</li>\n     <li>Utilizes manual cleaning tools and mechanized cleaning equipment, such as vacuum cleaners and mechanized floor cleaners.</li>\n     <li>Dusts and polishes furniture.</li>\n     <li>Washes windows, blinds, woodwork, toilets, washrooms, and fixtures.</li>\n     <li>Periodically cleans and washes various high areas such as ceiling light fixtures and room ventilation apparatus.</li>\n     <li>Moves desks, chairs and other furniture and equipment from place to place as directed and prepared building facilities for organizational activities and special events.</li>\n     <li>Changes light bulbs and makes minor adjustments to light fixtures.</li>\n     <li>Changes filters on HVAC equipment and makes minor adjustments.</li>\n     <li>Collects and disposes of paper and rubbish.</li>\n     <li>May operate and clean refuse incineration equipment.</li>\n     <li>Refills soap, toilet tissue and paper towel containers.</li>\n     <li>Loads and unloads delivery trucks, transports supplies to proper areas, assists in the handling of bulky or heavy articles.</li>\n     <li>Washes outside windows, polices outside property to keep free from trash and refuse.</li>\n     <li>Cuts grass, rakes grass and leaves and maintains landscaped areas.</li>\n     <li>Clears snow and salts walkways, driveways and parking areas.</li>\n    </ul>\n    <p><strong><u>FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS</u></strong></p>\n    <ul>\n     <li>Working knowledge of the methods, materials and equipment commonly used in custodial work.</li>\n     <li>Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written instructions.</li>\n     <li>Physical condition commensurate with the demands of this position.</li>\n    </ul>\n    <p><strong>&nbsp; <u>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS&nbsp;</u></strong>None.</p>\n    <p>&nbsp;</p>\n    <p><strong>WORKING HOURS: &nbsp;</strong>This position will work 40 hours per week, 12 months per year. The working hours for this position will vary based on location, but will be a night shift similar to 2:30 PM - 10:30 PM. These hours are subject to modification.</p>\n    <p><strong>SALARY/COMPENSATION: </strong>The current hourly rate for this position is $20.10 per hour per the <a href=\"https://www.syracusecityschools.com/tfiles/folder11063/Unit%206%202020-2025%20Contract.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Unit 6 contractual agreement</a>.
