With physicians in more than 100 specialties, award-winning hospitals, stand-alone emergency departments, urgent care locations and more, the healthcare system attracts patients from across the state, region and nation.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Learn more about Baptist Health | Learn more about Orlando Health</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities of Medical Lab Scientists Include, But Are Not Limited To:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Verifies routine results and quality control data for accuracy and reliability using prescribed guidelines.</li>\n <li>Performs, evaluates, and documents all quality control, preventive maintenance and troubleshooting procedures.</li>\n <li>Receives guidance and direction from more experienced team members or leader.</li>\n <li>Demonstrates computer system proficiency including ordering, resulting, and inquiry functions.</li>\n <li>Ensures proper utilization and preparation of reagents and supplies.</li>\n <li>Communicates critical results to the patient caregiver.</li>\n <li>Regularly reports all unusual findings to the immediate supervisor.</li>\n <li>Regularly reports work activities and pending work to the oncoming technologist.</li>\n <li>Responds to work related technical inquiries as needed.</li>\n <li>Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.</li>\n <li>Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>MLS Education/Training</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree required.</li>\n <li>Successful completion of clinical laboratory training internship.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>MLS Licensure/Certification</strong> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Maintains current Alabama license as a Medical Technologist/Laboratory Scientist in the specialty or specialties required by the laboratory section(s) assigned.</li>\n <li>National Certification such as American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP), American Association of Bioanalysts (AAB), or American Medical Technologists (AMT) preferred.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Experience</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>None.</li>\n</ul>",
