What you will do
Reporting to the Senior Technical Analyst, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
providing leadership, guidance, and support to employees, while ensuring effective teamwork and performance;
managing and maintaining data quality within the Department’s Bridge Management System (BMS), including inventory data, treatment costs, element unit costs, and deterioration models used for infrastructure analysis;
performing asset management modelling and analysis using BMS to support infrastructure investment planning and the development of candidate project lists;
assisting in the development and submission of multi-year capital programs for provincial structures and supporting the Department’s structures triage process to maintain acceptable network levels of service while prioritizing safety and budget optimization;
contributing to the evaluation of the Department’s current Bridge Management System, including assessing future system needs and participating in the selection and implementation of a potential replacement system;
providing technical expertise and responding to departmental information requests by delivering accurate and timely data related to structures, condition reporting, and other infrastructure information;
supporting continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the accuracy, reliability, and effectiveness of asset management analysis, systems, and processes.
Work environment:
Office location: 440 King Street, Fredericton.
Open office layout.
Standard hours of work: Monday – Friday.

Some travel within the province will be required.

Essential Qualifications:
Engineer 2:
University degree in Engineering.
Minimum of five (5) years of related experience including one (1) year of supervisory experience.
Registered as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick (APEGNB) or Registered as a Professional Engineer with a Canadian regulatory body.
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
Valid Class 5 driver’s license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick.
If there are no applicants with the above essential qualifications, we may consider applicants with the following qualifications and appoint at a lower classification.
Engineer 1 :
University degree in Engineering.
Must be eligible for Engineering in Training designation with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick (APEGNB) or Registered or confirmed eligibility to register as a Professional Engineer with a Canadian regulatory body.
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
Valid Class 5 driver’s license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick.
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate the following assets:

knowledge of bridge and structural asset management practices related to inspection, rehabilitation, maintenance, and lifecycle planning;
experience working with infrastructure asset management systems or decision-support tools such as Bridge Management Systems (BMS);
experience analyzing infrastructure condition data and developing project prioritization recommendations.
Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.

SALARY:
Engineer 2: $2,718.60 to $3,632.27 bi-weekly, based on 36.25 hours per week.
Based on Operational Requirements, hours may be designated to:
40 hours per week ($2,999.83 to $4,008.02 bi-weekly) or
45 hours per week ($3,374.81 to $4,509.02 bi-weekly)
Engineer 1: $2,327.40 to $2,963.05 bi-weekly, based on 36.25 hours per week.
Based on Operational Requirements, hours may be designated to:
40 hours per week ($2,568.17 to $3,269.57 bi-weekly) or
45 hours per week ($2,889.19 to $3,678.27 bi-weekly)
Recognition and Retention Premium:
The recognition and retention premium is based on written confirmation of recognition and registration with a Canadian Regulatory body.
Fifteen (15) years but less than twenty (20) years – 1.0%
Twenty (20) years but less than twenty-five (25) years – 2.0% Twenty-five (25) years – 3.0%
