Description
SUMMARY The Shift Supervisor supervises and coordinates the activities of production workers, production lines and daily projects to ensure maximum productivity and efficiency while maintaining quality and safety standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Supervise production workers to ensure the smooth running of the production process for assigned shift(s).
2. Monitor quantity and quality of production and report on production related processes.
3. Check to confirm all products are produced to established specifications. Monitor quantity and quality of production. Verify that production schedules are met.
4. Maintain production records and prepare various reports.
5. Problem-solve and troubleshoot when needed to identify root causes and make effective corrections.
6. Advise regarding recommended equipment maintenance and/or repair.
7. Ensure training skills are met for current and future demands of shift.
8. Coordinate with other shift supervisors to ensure effective production handovers.
9. Advocate safe working practices and report hazardous conditions.
10. Maintain good housekeeping program for assigned shift(s).
11. Perform other job-related duties are directed.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High School diploma or recognized equivalent, with 2 to 3 years of working in a manufacturing environment. Qualification on subordinate-level jobs required.
COMPUTER SKILLS Some computer experience preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with employees or organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate proportions, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
1. Have adequate sight, hearing, and use of limbs to safely operate all powered vehicles. (i.e., forklifts, sweepers, car and pickups).
2. Sight capabilities to distinguish proper product identification as well as warning and operational indicators.
3. Hearing capabilities to distinguish differences in warning alarm indicators and standard operation indicators.
4. Sight capabilities to identifying accuracy and neatness of required job assignments.
5. Stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling capabilities to handle job requirements such as operating, cleaning, or mixing equipment.
6. Balancing to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching in all areas due to limited direct supervision and/or observation. 7. Ability to verbally communicate either face to face or via telephone with other employees to accomplish all assigned job requirements.
8. Hear clearly and understand verbal communication whether it is face to face or via telephone.
9. See and understand written communication.
10. Climb and descend all ladders or steps (whether fixed or portable) on company facilities in order to access all areas if needed.
11. Ability to use caution when lifting or handling objects or equipment to remain within the recommended weight limit of 50 pounds, and get assistance if material is over 50 pounds.
12. Walking through, under and around equipment with a clearance of thirty (30) inches.
13. Ability to feel objects, textures, size, and shapes and determine temperature by touching of skin, primarily that of finger tips.
14. Ability to grasp tools and use them in a safe manner working manner to avoid injury to self or fellow employees.
15. Sight capabilities to safely operate at arms’ length machinery and power and /or hand tools needed to accomplish assigned job requirements.
WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
1. Inside and outside environments apply.
2. Subject to extreme cold, temperatures below 32 degrees for period of more than one hour.
3. Subject to extreme heat, temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour.

5. Subject to vibration, exposure fluctuating movements of the body.
6. Subject to hazards such as moving machinery, electrical currents, falling debris, exposure to chemicals, gasses, high heat, or explosives. Subject to unregulated atmospheric conditions caused by odors, fumes, gases, poor ventilation, and dusts. Subject to oils and other cutting fluids.
