Description Position Title Adjunct Instructor of Sociology Hours Per Week Not to exceed 37 Posting Date October, 2024 Closing Date Until filled Job Type Adjunct Instructor Internal Category Adjunct Instructor Position Purpose Applications are sought for adjunct instructors to teach in-person Sociology courses Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Demonstrated excellence in on-site teaching. Demonstrated excellence in online teaching, including creative use of online platforms and consistent use of high-quality online lectures in video and/or audio format. Adherence to high professional expectations. Demonstrated inter- and intrapersonal skills, especially in engaging with traditional and non-traditional university students from a variety of backgrounds. Evidence of high level of personal integrity, agency and initiative. Demonstrated organizational skills. Successful use of multiple creative instructional strategies and technologies in the classroom and online to improve educational outcomes of diverse learners. Applicants from international, minority and/or other diverse backgrounds are warmly encouraged to apply. Experience Evidence of rigorous, creative, and effective teaching skills. Excellent student evaluations over a 3-year period or more are preferred Education Minimum requirement: Master’s degree in Sociology. (PhD in Sociology is preferred.) Additional Information Application Requirements Available to teach Spring semesters on site at high school site(s) in Wilson County TN for dual enrollment courses (initially M/W mornings.) An electronic version of your cover letter, curriculum vitae, philosophy of teaching, unofficial graduate transcripts, and 5 references is required. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
