Perform preventative maintenance programs, inspections and repairs. Install new plumbing fixtures including, but not limited to sinks, urinals, faucets, drinking fountains, and related devices. Due to the multifamily nature of field work, Plumbers provide a high level of repetition to meet production demands on the job(s); they strive to work as a team to meet job deadlines.</p><p><strong>Essential duties and Responsibilities&nbsp;</strong>include the following. Other duties may be assigned<strong>:&nbsp;</strong></p><ul><li>Assemble, install and repair pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, and drainage systems, according to specifications and plumbing codes</li><li>Assemble pipe sections, tubing and fittings, using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts cement, plastic solvent, caulking, or soldering equipment</li><li>Fill pipes or plumbing fixtures with water or air and observe pressure gauges to detect and locate leaks</li><li>Review blueprints and building codes and specifications to determine work details and procedures</li><li>Study building plans &nbsp;and inspect structures to assess materials and equipment needs, to establish the sequence of pipe installations, and to plan installation around obstructions such as electrical wiring</li><li>Locate and mark the position of pipe installation, connections, passage holes, and fixtures in structures, using measuring instruments such as rulers and levels</li><li>Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipe to required angle, using hand and power tools or machines such as pipe cutters, pipe-threading machines</li><li>Install pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, appliances such as dishwashers and water heaters, and fixtures such as sinks and toilets, using hand and power tools</li><li>Cut openings in structures to accommodate pipes and pipe fittings, using hand and power tools</li><li>Hang steel supports from ceilings joists to hold pipes in place</li><li>Repair and maintain plumbing, replacing defective washers, replacing or mending broken pipes, and opening clogged drains</li><li>Direct apprentice plumbers and laborers engaged in pipe cutting preassembly and installation of plumbing systems and components</li><li>Install underground storm, sanitary and water piping systems and extend piping to connect fixtures and plumbing to these systems</li></ul><p><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p><p><strong>Competency:&nbsp;</strong></p><p>To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:</p><ul><li>Analytical &ndash; Collects and researches data</li><li>Problem solving &ndash; Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Works well in group problem solving situations; Uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics</li><li>Customer Service &ndash; Manages difficult or emotional customer situations; Responds promptly to customer needs; Responds to requests for service and assistance; Meets commitments</li><li>Oral Communication &ndash; Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; Listens and gets clarification; Responds well to questions; Participates in meetings</li><li>Written Communication &ndash; Writes clearly and informatively; Edits work for spelling and grammar; Presents numerical data effectively; Able to read and interpret written information</li><li>Organizational Support &ndash; Follows policies and procedures; Completes administrative tasks correctly and on time; Supports organization&rsquo;s goals and values</li><li>Attendance/Punctuality &ndash; Is consistently at work and on time; Ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent; Arrives at meetings and appointments on time</li><li>Dependability &ndash; Follows instructions, responds to management direction; Takes responsibility for own actions; Keeps commitments; Commits to long hours of work when necessary to reach goals; Completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person with an alternate plan</li><li>Initiative &ndash; Volunteers readily; Undertakes self-development activities; Seeks increased responsibilities; Takes independent actions and calculated risks; Looks for and takes advantage of opportunities; Asks for and offers help when needed</li><li>Professionalism &ndash; Approaches others in a tactful manner; Reacts well under pressure; Treats others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position; Accepts responsibility for own actions; Follows through on commitments</li></ul><p><strong>Qualification:</strong></p><p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
