Since 1984, Larkin Street Youth Services has helped more than 75,000 young adults in San Francisco with outreach, shelter, housing, education, employment, healthcare, and other services. Today, Larkin Street Youth Services is the largest provider of housing and services to homeless youth in the Bay Area. We serve 1,500 youth annually, operating or partnering to provide more than 500 emergency shelter, transitional, supportive, and subsidy-based housing beds at several unique sites across San Francisco. WHAT YOU'LL DO: The Wellness Department at Larkin Street offers a wide range of services to support young people across Larkin Street programs to achieve the healing they desire, including onsite drop-in counseling at program sites, check-ins, weekly individual therapy (in-person and virtual), and weekly psychoeducational groups (e.g. Healing Meditation, Crash Out, Boyz II Men, Alphabet Soup, etc.). With our typically serving over 85% BIPOC (including 45% Black) and over 30% LGBTQ+ TAY, the Wellness Department strives to provide a continuum of personalized culturally responsive services that empower young people towards achieving their identified mental health, harm reduction, and wellness goals, accessing resources to support their mental well-being, and decreasing the negative impacts of trauma and homelessness. The Wellness Department further provides consultation, trainings, and care coordination for all programs to deepen staff use of best practices across Larkin Street. This position is full-time and eligible for full-benefits. Your responsibilities: Assess training needs and provide clinical consultation and training to Program Directors, Program Managers, and staff across programs on a range of clinical topics relating to mental health and/or substance use challenges, harm reduction, and best practices for serving Transitional Age Youth (TAY) communities. Provide clinical and administrative supervision to Wellness clinicians and interns, including weekly individual and/or group supervision. Manage and triage waitlist for Wellness clinical services and match client referrals to Wellness clinicians and interns. Facilitate and coordinate Collaborative Case Conferences across Larkin Street to assist in determining next steps for clients presenting with mental health and/or substance use challenges. Update and distribute monthly Wellness and Harm Reduction newsletters to staff across Larkin Street regarding best practices, including highlighting of key community and resource updates. Co-facilitate virtual Mental Health First Aid trainings to agency staff and community partners throughout San Francisco. Work with Division Director of Client & Clinical Services to ensure effective coordinated service delivery, grant and contract compliance, and fiscal responsibility. Develop and sustain partnerships, including promoting contacts, working relationships, and cooperative programs between Larkin Street’s Wellness Department and other organizations involved in mental health, substance use, and harm reduction services serving TAY and adults, including with SFDPH, CBOs, and key providers in the TAY and Adult Systems of Care. Monitor and approve clinical notes, audit files, and complete general administrative tasks. Oversee the creation and ongoing maintenance of harm reduction kits for program sites, and ensure appropriate data collection and tracking adhering to internal agency policies and procedures. Promote collaboration and cross-training among teams throughout the agency. Serve on the On-Call Clinical Consultation rotation. Ability to travel independently throughout the community to Larkin Street’s various program and partner agency sites. Actively participate in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) work within the agency, along with managing programs with a lens on DEI. Maintain an awareness of the agency’s mission and work to promote the positive individual and social change goals it embodies. Maintain a creative, teambuilding, cooperative approach to job performance and seek to bring a constructive, problem-solving orientation to all tasks using diversity, equity, and inclusion and restorative practice lens. Maintain professional standards of performance, demeanor and appearance at all times. Perform tasks and responsibilities in a complete and timely manner, complying with agency policies and standards and conforming to scheduling requirements of this job description and program. Exercise discretion and professional judgment at all times, keeping with the responsibilities carried personally and by the agency for the care and welfare of the youth we serve. Actively strive to upgrade professional skills through engaging in appropriate professional training and experience. Other duties as assigned. WHO YOU ARE: You have a Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Social Welfare, or closely related field. You hold a current California LCSW or LMFT license for a minimum of 2+ years and eligible to provide clinical supervision. You have previous experience providing consultation and support to staff, including leading trainings on a range of mental health, substance use, and harm reduction topics. You have previous experience providing individual and group therapy, and psychoeducational groups with TAY, homeless and/or marginally housed individuals living with mental health and/or substance use challenges, and effectively utilizing crisis intervention and de-escalation skills, harm reduction strategies and motivational interviewing, and working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams. You have excellent written and verbal skills, including engaging with diverse audiences. You bring lived expertise relevant to the BIPOC and/or LGBTQ+ TAY we serve and are passionate about serving marginalized communities, with bilingual in Spanish being a plus. You work best in a hybrid, mostly on-site and in person working environment. You are a team player and self-starter. Your colleagues describe you as compassionate, patient, and organized. You are proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. You are familiar with navigating EHR systems.
