    "description": "<p>The University of Pikeville maintains a pool of adjunct faculty who are passionate about teaching and student learning. This application is for a position in the Elliott School of Nursing with the College of Nursing and Human Services. The Adjunct Instructor will provide part-time clinical and/or skills lab instruction for students within the Nursing program.  Adjunct instructors must have a strong commitment to teaching in a small university setting and the ability to work effectively with others in a collegial environment dedicated to student learning.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Responsibilities:</span></p>\n<p>The adjunct instructor will serve under the supervision of specific full-time nursing faculty and the Dean of the Elizabeth Akers Elliott School of Nursing while accepting the following responsibilities:  </p>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide instruction for the assigned course, including clinical supervision, patient assignments, clinical paperwork, pre-post conference, assisting with return skill demonstration, and fostering clinical decision-making.</li>\n<li>Provide clinical evaluation as required and meet one-on-one with students to strengthen clinical decision-making.</li>\n<li>Maintain close communication with the course leader or supervising faculty.</li>\n<li>Maintain health records, an unencumbered KY RN license, and other documentation as required by the Elliott School of Nursing or health agencies.</li>\n<li>Responsibilities for all other duties as assigned by the Dean.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Each semester, we may need part-time instructors in the clinical or skills lab for:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fundamentals of Nursing</li>\n<li>Medical-Surgical Nursing</li>\n<li>Maternity Nursing</li>\n<li>Mental Health Nursing</li>\n<li>Agency Preceptor Coordination</li>\n<li>Remedial assistance such as tutoring of nursing students</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Education/Skill Requirements:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Must have a minimum of Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) Degree and two years of clinical experience.</li>\n<li>Must have excellent organizational, communication, teaching and clinical decision-making skills.</li>\n<li>Prior clinical instruction or teaching experience is strongly preferred.</li>\n<li>Prior experience with electronic health documentation and simulation is strongly preferred.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Faculty Expectations</span></span>: Note that the University of Pikeville recognizes that effective educators are themselves life-long learners. Adjunct faculty members are encouraged to attend our professional development workshops whenever possible to improve use of educational technology, determine ways to better engage students, and reflect on methods to create the most effective environment for student growth. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Positions are available in the spring, summer, and fall semesters.
