This position is contingent upon contract award
The Steam Generating Propulsion Inspector (SGPI) provides expert technical leadership, engineering oversight, inspection support, and maintenance management for Navy steam propulsion systems and associated auxiliary equipment aboard surface warships and military auxiliary vessels. This position serves as a senior subject matter expert responsible for supporting fleet readiness, propulsion plant operations, engineering assessments, maintenance planning, inspection programs, and lifecycle sustainment activities for steam-powered naval vessels.
The SGPI supervises engineering and maintenance personnel, conducts technical inspections and evaluations, and provides expert guidance to government and contractor personnel supporting shipboard engineering operations and Navy maintenance programs.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and supervise technical teams supporting steam propulsion system operations, engineering analyses, maintenance activities, and technical project execution. Provide senior-level technical management support across multiple Navy surface ships and military auxiliary vessels. Serve as subject matter expert for steam turbine propulsion systems, steam turbine generators, associated control systems, and auxiliary engineering equipment. Support planning, execution, and oversight of depot-level and organizational-level maintenance activities involving steam propulsion plants. Conduct and oversee steam propulsion inspections in accordance with Navy engineering standards, maintenance procedures, and certification requirements. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineering personnel, inspectors, operators, and maintenance staff. Analyze propulsion plant performance, maintenance data, engineering assessments, and operational trends to identify improvement opportunities and enhance mission readiness. Coordinate with ship’s force personnel, maintenance activities, government representatives, and program stakeholders to resolve technical and operational issues. Support development and implementation of engineering procedures, maintenance strategies, readiness initiatives, and technical documentation. Ensure compliance with Navy engineering, operational, maintenance, and safety requirements. Prepare technical reports, inspection findings, engineering assessments, and readiness evaluations for leadership review.
