Our owners are proud Utahns.</strong></li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong><u>Job Summary</u></strong>: Under supervision from the shop supervisor, the mechanic is responsible for performing work of considerable difficulty in the repair and maintenance of equipment.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong><u>Duties and Responsibilities</u></strong>:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Visualize, fulfill, and implement the company vision and core values.</li>\n <li>Welding and fabrication, a plus but not required.</li>\n <li>Diagnose, rebuild equipment, electrical diagnosis.</li>\n <li>Perform plant inspections, diagnose any problems, and perform plant maintenance</li>\n <li>Complete major road calls and perform field repairs.</li>\n <li>Perform inspections and preventive maintenance of equipment.</li>\n <li>Prepare and maintain records and reports.</li>\n <li>Maintain tools as required to do the job.</li>\n <li>Operate forklift.</li>\n <li>Review, understand, and adhere to all union contracts.</li>\n <li>Maintain insurable driving record.</li>\n <li>Ensure a safe and healthful work environment at all times.</li>\n <li>Must be able to obtain DOT medical card</li>\n <li>Must be able to use troubleshooting programs – Cummins Insite, Davies, ect.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong><u>Education and/or Experience</u></strong>:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>High school diploma or general education degree (GED).</li>\n <li>Three years journeyman experience and/or two-year diesel mechanic certificate preferred.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong><u>Physical Demands:</u> </strong>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.</p>\n<ul>\n <li><strong>Sitting: </strong>20% of the time</li>\n <li><strong>Standing: </strong>85% of the time</li>\n <li><strong>Driving: </strong>15% of the time</li>\n <li><strong>Weight lifted: </strong>Up to 50 pounds<strong> </strong></li>\n <li><strong>Physical Movement: </strong>Will frequently kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, bend or twist body, use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls, stretch, bend, push pull, lift, or carry heavy objects, support body for long periods of time.</li>\n <li><strong>Speaking / Listening: </strong>Needs to be able to communicate effectively with supervision, follow instructions, and understand safety requirements. Needs to be able to hear sounds and recognize difference between them as well as focus on one source of sound and ignore others.</li>\n <li><strong>Working Conditions: </strong>Exposed to hazardous equipment, situations, and conditions. Sometimes will work outdoors at work site and indoors in the repair shop, exposed to all weather conditions. Will also be exposed to sounds and noise levels that are uncomfortable and a variety of lighting conditions, from dim to light.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong><u>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</u></strong>:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Attention and commitment to safety</li>\n <li>Ability to work well with others in a team environment</li>\n <li>Ability to work long hours</li>\n <li>Ability to move 50 pounds</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Ability to operate heavy equipment.</li>\n <li>Knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, electronics, and familiar with components associated with them</li>\n <li>Skilled in welding, cutting, and fabrication - a plus but not required.</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Knowledge of towing, recovery, lifting, and rigging</li>\n <li>Knowledge of conveyor systems</li>\n <li>Knowledge of fuel and fueling systems</li>\n <li>Vast Knowledge of complex electrical systems on vehicles/ equipment</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong><u>Training and Development: </u></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>New Employee Orientation</li>\n <li>Customer Service</li>\n <li>Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA)</li>\n <li>Brake repair training and certification.</li>\n <li>Fall Protection</li>\n <li>Lock Out/ Tag Out</li>\n <li>Confined Space</li>\n <li>Forklift Certification</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p>*Physical Demands /Safety are dependent on location of position.
