We offer an excellent benefits package!3 weeks vacation * 12 days sick leave * 13 holidays* medical * dental* vision* life insurance * LTD * AD&D * pension * 403b * catastrophic & accident ins * flexible & remote schedules Under the supervision of the Unaccompanied Refugee Minor (URM) Program Manager, this position is part of a service team that provides services to promote the development of independent living skills for immigrant children referred by the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR), and placed in the International Foster Care Program. This position manages funds for eligible youth who are pursuing higher education, employment, or other independent living goals. This position is also responsible for state and federal reporting. Assists with life skills assessments and provides life skills training to refugee and immigrant youth in foster care. Helps develop plans designed to promote successful transition to independent living. Facilitate group activities to expose youth to educational and career activities. Responsibilities General Job Functions: Develop a working knowledge of the IFC policy and procedures. Collaborate with the IL team to ensure programming meets youth needs and identified goals. Manage ETV and Chafee Grant program for participants by determining eligibility, awarding funds, and monitoring educational or employment status, as well as completing corresponding federal outcomes reports. Write monthly program report to include outcomes, as well as programming and statistical information to include all youth. Responsible for federal outcomes reports for youth who exit care until age 26. Maintain tracker for required reports. Conduct comprehensive Life Skills Assessments and provide Independent Living Skills training for youth participating in the independent living program. Organize and facilitate IL classes and activities both virtually and in-person. Includes set-up, facilitating activities, developing lesson plans, teaching classes, interpretation as appropriate, and providing individual support to youth as-needed. Design individualized strategies with foster youth to work towards long-terms goals to lead healthy productive lives. Meet with youth at least every 180 days to maintain these goals. Work with foster youth on activities that prepare them for transition to Supervised Independent Living placements and transition out of foster care (including but not limited to budgeting, bill paying, cooking, searching for employment, identifying housing, etc.) Partner with social services staff, foster parents and community, to utilize resources that will successfully prepare youth to live independently. Report back to and coordinate with Independent Living Team and Social Services Specialists on each youth’s progress. Participate and provide input during weekly staffing with regard to refugee services for youth. Assist in facilitating regular group activities to help expose youth to different educational and career opportunities. Maintain client files with documentation of youth’s participation in all IL activities and IL goal achievement. Provide Independent Living Skills support services across program site locations (Tacoma and Vancouver) on a regular basis. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications BA/BS in social work or related field. Ability to work well with diverse populations. Experience working with social services Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills Knowledge of computer skills. Applicant must successfully pass required background checks prior to an offer of employment. Must have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and automobile insurance. Must have an acceptable driving record per CCS’ driving policy (required to provide current driving abstract) Proof of negative TB test upon hire or proof of test within past 12 months. First/Aid CPR certified or the ability to become certified within the 1 month of employment Support and uphold the mission, beliefs and values of Catholic Community Services and Catholic Housing Services. Support and contribute to a creative, collaborative and respectful environment that promotes teamwork. Demonstrates the necessary attitudes, knowledge and skills to deliver culturally competent services and work effectively in multi-cultural situations. Preferred Qualifications Bi-Lingual or Multi-lingual in a language commonly spoken by refugees and immigrants. Two years cross-cultural experience. Two years’ experience working in a Child Welfare setting with diverse populations. Experience working with refugee and immigrant populations. Good knowledge of the Child Welfare system including emotional aspects of refugees and immigrants. Masters degree.
