    "description": "<p>Department: Parks &amp; Recreation         </p>\n<p>Reports To: Athletic Facilities Supervisor</p>\n<p>FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">GENERAL PURPOSE:</span></p>\n<p>The Grounds Crew will be responsible for performing a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance and operation of park and recreation ballfields.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</span></p>\n<p>The following duties are not intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by the individual in this classification, only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities.  Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties as assigned.</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Drags ball fields; lines fields for games.</li>\n<li>Performs custodial work such as required and assigned, including: sweep floors; mop; dump garbage and reline cans with liners; pick up ground trash; clean and sanitize restrooms and replenish supplies; clean spills; clean drinking fountains, tables and walls.</li>\n<li>Maintain and inspect all equipment used. (Check and maintain; engine oil, fuel levels and air filters)</li>\n<li>Maintains current skills and knowledge in the proper and safe techniques of maintenance functions and the handling of maintenance equipment.</li>\n<li>Operates gators, blowers, pressure washers and hand tools.</li>\n<li>Perform small repairs to keep equipment in good operating order.</li>\n<li>Water infields during extremely dry periods.</li>\n<li>Assists in setting up and taking down equipment for various park and recreation programs, prepares facilities for park and recreation program use.</li>\n<li>Installs and maintains temporary fencing.</li>\n<li>Performs other duties as assigned and directed by the Athletic Facilities Supervisor.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Required knowledge, skills, and abilities: </span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Some knowledge of equipment, materials and supplies used in building and grounds maintenance.</li>\n<li>Some knowledge of equipment and supplies used to do minor repairs; some knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions.</li>\n<li>Skill in operation of listed tools and equipment.</li>\n<li>Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to work schedule.</li>\n<li>Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time, and to perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.</li>\n<li>Ability to communicate orally and in writing; ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.</li>\n<li>Ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions.</li>\n<li>Ability to establish effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, and the public.</li>\n<li>Knowledge of pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations.</li>\n<li>Must be able to think and problem solve.</li>\n<li>Ability to successfully operate lawn and landscaping equipment, including gators, edger, weed trimmers, blowers, electric motors, pumps, sprinklers, irrigation systems; miscellaneous hand and power tools for turf maintenance; janitorial equipment including, power washers, vacuums, mops, brooms, and dusting equipment.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Education and Experience:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Any combination of education and experience which demonstrates the knowledge and experience to perform the work.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Physical Requirements: </span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span>While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk; and use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls. </span></li>\n<li><span>The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.</span></li>\n<li><span>The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.</span></li>\n<li><span>Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.</span></li>\n<li><span>While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. </span></li>\n<li><span>The employee occasionally works in highs, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic chemicals. </span></li>\n<li><span>The employee is occasionally exposed to the risk of electrical shock.</span></li>\n<li><span>The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.</span></li>\n</ul>",
