    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p><strong>THE ROLE </strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>At Great Dane, we rely on makers and we’re calling on them to join our expanding team, the time has never been better to Embrace Your Great and work in an environment with the highest safety standards in the industry.   </p>\n<p>          </p>\n<p>The position: The Safety Technician helps in the implementation of the Safety System, which includes safety programs, OSHA and Environmental compliance, training and reporting of employees.  The selected candidate will ensure programs and activities of the facility are maintained and implemented to both State and Federal OSHA Standards.  Assists in safety and environmental training, performs audits and assist HR in managing Worker’s Comp data as needed.</p>\n<strong>Schedule Note:</strong> The schedule for this role will temporarily be a Swing Shift: Monday–Thursday 12:00pm - 10:30pm.This role is expected to transition permanently to 2nd Shift in the future.\n<p> </p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p><strong>WHAT YOU’LL DO </strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li><p>Ensure individual and employee compliance with all safety and environmental rules and requirements.   </p></li>\n <li><p>Serve as the safety and environmental subject matter expert for the plant.   </p></li>\n <li><p>Provide safety and environmental oversight for the facility.   </p></li>\n <li><p>Ensure compliance with applicable Federal, State, and company safety laws and regulations.   </p></li>\n <li><p>Implement safety programs and policies.   </p></li>\n <li><p>Plan, develop, and conduct safety training.   </p></li>\n <li><p>Conduct investigations and root cause analysis. Implements corrective actions and continuous improvement activities as needed.    </p></li>\n <li><p>Maintain various reporting systems and provides safety analysis as required.    </p></li>\n <li><p>Performs job hazard assessments (JSA) Safe Operating Procedures (SOP) by participating in processes and procedures and researching industry best practices and regulatory requirements.   </p></li>\n <li><p>Conducts on-site audits to evaluate safe work practices.   </p></li>\n <li><p>Manage safety training materials.  </p></li>\n <li><p>Ensure appropriate OSHA and Environmental standards are applied throughout processes.  </p></li>\n <li><p>Other duties as assigned.    </p></li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>YOUR SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS) </strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li><p>Education: College degree or equivalent training / work experience in a related field.   </p></li>\n <li><p>Experience: 1 year of relevant safety work experience within a Manufacturing Environment.   </p></li>\n <li><p>Skills: </p>\n  <ul>\n   <li><p>Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.  </p></li>\n   <li><p>Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including advanced data functions in Excel.  </p></li>\n   <li><p>Excellent analytical skills: Ability to collect and analyze data and present findings.  </p></li>\n   <li><p>Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.  </p></li>\n   <li><p>Solid ability in identifying and resolving problems in a timely, effective manner.  </p></li>\n   <li><p>Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills.  </p></li>\n   <li><p>Travel: Minimal.   </p></li>\n   <li><p>Background with MS Office programs: Word, Excel   </p></li>\n  </ul></li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS </strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
