    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p><strong></strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><em><strong>WAIT LIST</strong></em></p>\n<p><strong>There may not always be positions available to apply to on our seasonal animal care teams. </strong></p>\n<p><strong>If you are interested in future opportunities, we would like to invite you to submit your resume here. </strong></p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>May work in one of the following areas: Congo Expedition, Heart of Africa, Australia Region, North America/My Barn Region, Asia Quest and Elephants, Shores Region, Animal Programs, Animal Encounters Village, and Stingray Bay</li>\n <li>May be responsible for care and handling of select animals and upkeep of their facilities within acceptable safety protocols.</li>\n <li>May clean animal enclosures (e.g. rakes, hoses, sweeps, disinfects, removes manure, washes windows, building clean up).</li>\n <li>Assists in habitat maintenance (e.g. mowing, weed whipping, pruning, raking leaves).</li>\n <li>Assists in maintaining public viewing areas on Zoo grounds and buildings (e.g. picks up litter, sweeps, mops floors, cleans tables, benches, restrooms, walkways and windows).</li>\n <li>May assist in operating contact areas under the guidance of keeper staff.</li>\n <li>May prepare animal diets/drinks.</li>\n <li>Observes animals and reports any behavioral changes to Animal Staff and Vets. </li>\n <li>May deliver educational interpretation to the general public regarding animal behavior, habitat and conservation issues. </li>\n <li>Assists in maintaining records and monitors health status of animals.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Must be at least 18 years old.</li>\n <li>High school diploma or equivalent required.</li>\n <li>One year completed towards a bachelor’s degree preferred.</li>\n <li>BS in Zoology or related field preferred. </li>\n <li>New-Hire TB test required.</li>\n <li>Valid driver’s license with good driving record required.</li>\n <li>Prior animal care experience preferred.</li>\n <li>Must be outgoing and willing to talk to many different types of people.</li>\n <li>Excellent public speaking skills.</li>\n <li>Able to perform heavy physical work for extended periods of time.</li>\n <li>Able to balance multiple assignments successfully.</li>\n <li>Able to work in varied weather conditions (i.e. extreme heat, cold, snow or rain). </li>\n <li>Able to work in humid and/or dusty environments.</li>\n <li>Able to work with a variety of cleaning chemicals.</li>\n <li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills.</li>\n <li>Able to provide excellent guest service by positively interacting with guests and upholding the Make it G.R.E.A.T. standards required.</li>\n <li>Able to maintain courteous and helpful behavior.</li>\n <li>Able to work in a team and/or individually with minimum supervision.</li>\n <li>Able and willing to rotate time within and outside of assigned region among animal care and landscaping/grounds maintenance, ride and environmental interpretation activities. </li>\n <li>Able to maintain appropriate employee appearance (see uniform guidelines in the employee handbook).</li>\n <li>Able to work flexible schedule including weekends, evenings and holidays.</li>\n <li>Subject to Drug Free Workplace Policy.</li>\n <li>Subject to BMV check.</li>\n <li>Subject to Criminal Background check.</li>\n</ul>",
