    "requisitionDescription": "<div><div><div><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\" data-pasted=\"true\"><strong>GENERAL PURPOSE:&nbsp;</strong><em>The Recreation Softball Umpire is responsible for officiating adult and/or youth softball games in a fun, community-based recreation league. You will ensure games are played safely, fairly, and according to official rules while promoting good sportsmanship and a positive experience for players, coaches, and spectators. This is a seasonal, part-time position ideal for individuals who enjoy baseball/softball, working outdoors, and being part of their local community.</em></p><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong>PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</strong></p><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><em>The following duties <strong>ARE NOT</strong> intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification, only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.</em><em>&nbsp;</em></p><div style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Officiate assigned games (typically 2&ndash;4 games per week during league season)&nbsp;</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Make accurate, timely calls on balls/strikes, fair/foul, safe/out, and all other rule interpretations&nbsp;</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Enforce league-specific rules, safety protocols, and code of conduct&nbsp;</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Maintain order on the field and manage any disputes or unsportsmanlike behavior calmly and professionally&nbsp;</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Work with the opposing umpire (when two-umpire system is used) or solo as assigned&nbsp;</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Keep accurate game records (score, ejections, injuries, protests) and submit post-game reports&nbsp;</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Arrive at least 30 minutes before game time, properly uniformed and prepared&nbsp;</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Attend pre-season training clinics, rules meetings, and ongoing professional development&nbsp;</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Promote a safe playing environment by monitoring field conditions and player equipment</li></ul><p><br></p></div><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</strong><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong>Required Qualifications</strong><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Must be at least 16 years old (21+ preferred for adult leagues)</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Working knowledge of USA Softball (or equivalent) rules &mdash; previous playing or umpiring experience is a plus but not required</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Ability to pass a background check (required for positions involving youth)</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Reliable transportation and ability to work evenings and weekends</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Good physical condition (able to stand, walk, and move quickly for 1.5&ndash;2.5 hours per game)</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Professional appearance and attitude at all times</li></ul><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong>Preferred Skills &amp; Attributes</strong><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Previous umpiring experience (high school, travel ball, or recreation level)</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">USA Softball or NFHS umpire certification (or willingness to obtain and maintain)</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Passion for softball and community recreation</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Basic computer skills for submitting game reports online</li></ul><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong>Work Schedule &amp; Conditions</strong><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Seasonal: Typically, April/May through August/September (exact dates vary by program)</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Hours: Evenings (weeknights 6:00 pm&ndash;10:00 pm) and occasional weekends</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Outdoor work in all weather conditions (heat, rain, wind)</li></ul><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong>Why Join Our Recreation Program?</strong><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">$50 Park Pass (Golf Course, Pool, Roosevelt Park Zoo, Open Skating)</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Flexible scheduling around school or other jobs</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Opportunity to stay active, give back to the community, and build your officiating resume</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Positive, family-friendly environment focused on fun and development</li></ul><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong>**Other duties as assigned and performed as required**</strong></p></div></div></div>\n",
