Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) manages and operates the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). Our MISSION is to help ensure the security of the United States and its allies by providing high-hazard experimentation and incident response capabilities through operations, engineering, education, field, and integration services and by acting as environmental stewards to the Site’s Cold War legacy. Responsibilities
The Supervisor II will serve as a Night Shift Operations Supervisor to direct and coordinate critical support activities at the PULSE Complex during night shift. As an integral part of our Operations team, you will collaborate with external and internal partners to attain desired success states and sustain operations.
Key Responsibilities
Interface with maintenance, construction, and engineering personnel to ensure the PULSE Complex is available to accomplish work during night shift. Address project and facility-related issues.
Ensure Surveillances and In-Service Inspections are completed within their mandated due date.
Represent the facility at Plan-of-the-Day and scheduling meetings to address scheduling conflicts. Utilize integrated schedule to ensure activities can occur.
Coordinate with National Laboratories to de-conflict project operations and planned maintenance or construction activities.
Direct PULSE Complex Operations Technicians and ensure daily assignments are communicated and completed in a safe and effective manner.
Ensure the facility is prepared to support project work.
Take immediate action to correct reported or observed unacceptable safety and health conditions and/or behaviors.
Access PULSE Complex buildings and tunnels to conduct walk-downs, inspections, and site-specific tours.
Direct performance of normal and emergency operations of equipment and systems in support of facility operations.
Assist with coordination and completion of facility documents supporting Nuclear Weapons Laboratory subcritical experiments.
Coordinate and complete critical support activities at the PULSE Complex collaborating with external and internal partners to attain desired success states and sustain operations during applicable shifts.
Assist with safety-based surface/underground formal workplace inspections and resolve issues identified.
Assist with coordination of PULSE Complex abnormal events/emergency preparedness drills and exercises when required.
Perform as the Local Emergency Director and/or Emergency Action Team member at the PULSE Complex.
Interface with Laboratory, Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, and Construction personnel at the PULSE Complex; interact with other MSTS organizations (e.g., Design Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Radiological Controls, Safety, Training, etc.), as well as U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) personnel and external customers.
Perform other duties as determined by facility management and supervision.
Qualifications
Bachelors' degree or equivalent training and experience, plus a minimum of 8 years of related and progressively responsible experience. Highly desired 3 years’ experience in:
Nuclear facility management or nuclear maintenance such as those found at a DOE nuclear facility, commercial powerplant, or U.S. Navy Nuclear Propulsion Program.
Maintenance/engineering
Radiation protection
Conduct of Operations
Nuclear safety, and/or
Criticality safety
Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, and computer skills in MS Word, Excel, and MS Outlook.
The primary work location is in the forward area of the Nevada National Security Site, approximately 80 miles northeast of Las Vegas.
This position will be primarily nightshift but may involve work on other shifts at management discretion.
Work schedule is (4) 10-hour shifts, Monday through Thursday from 1530 to 0200 (subject to change).
Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
Must possess a valid driver's license.
MSTS is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants offered employment with MSTS are also subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated by DOE, resulting in the inability to perform the duties assigned and subsequent termination of employment. In addition, Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship, at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order 472.2 , “Personnel Security”. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.
Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4 , “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted. Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, required to participate in subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required.
