Description Examines, tests, diagnoses and administers remedial treatments for patients with speech and hearing disorders, and evaluates patients regarding the application of a wide variety of therapeutic techniques for rehabilitation of speech, language, hearing, and oral motor disorders. The Speech and Language Pathologist maintains active and support communication with the patient regarding progress, problems, home programs and other issues related to the therapeutic process. Responsibilities Our Lady of the Lake Voice Center, affiliated with Louisiana State University Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery is excited to announce an opening for a  full-time voice, upper airway, & swallowing-specialized speech-language pathologist or clinical fellow. OLOL Voice Center, is a multidisciplinary center with two fellowship trained Laryngologists, four Speech-Language Pathologists and a singing voice specialist. The position offers the opportunity to work in a state-of-the-art voice center focusing on the evaluation and treatment of dysphonia, dysphagia, head and neck cancer, and upper airway anomalies as a member of an accomplished team of voice professionals cooperating in clinical, academic, and research endeavors. The team of the OLOL Voice Center is dedicated to providing superior care that reflects a commitment to our patients and a passion for our work. The speech-language pathology team uses advanced assessment tools in laryngeal imaging and acoustic and aerodynamic assessment in addition to cutting edge therapies to treat a variety of voice and upper airway disorder. Specific skills to be developed include, but are not limited to, rigid and flexible endoscopy in adult populations, pre- and post-operative laryngectomy management with tracheoesophageal prostheses, modified barium swallow studies, acoustic and aerodynamic voice analysis, motor-speech examination, comprehensive voice rehabilitation techniques and evidence-based problem solving as a member of a large but collaborative team. Team rounds in voice and dysphagia, multi-institutional voice therapy difficult case conferences, tumor board, and didactic sessions with the Otolaryngology residents will provide additional learning experiences. Participation in ongoing clinical research at our center will also provide this candidate with the opportunity to present at local and national meetings. Candidates with prior experience in the evaluation and treatment of voice disorders through both a strong academic background and additional clinical experiences specifically in voice and swallowing are strongly encouraged to apply, but we are most interested to meet a highly productive candidate with strong interpersonal skills seeking challenging clinical fellowship with specific interest in diagnostic, habilitative, and rehabilitative voice and swallowing care. Qualifications  Education - Master's Degree  Licensure - BLS Certification; State licensed Speech Pathologist or eligible for Clinical Fellowship year Company Our Lady of the Lake is uniquely capable of caring for a full range of illness or injury, including those that are extremely complex, for both pediatric and adult patients. Our family of services includes: An 988-bed hospital and the area’s only Level I Trauma Center A freestanding Children's Hospital A 545-provider care network covering more than 40 specialties Two free-standing emergency rooms—Our Lady of the Lake Livingston and Our Lady of the Lake North A network of nearly 15 urgent care clinics Outpatient imaging and surgery centers Assumption Community Hospital Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University Our Lady of the Lake Ascension , a 78-bed, community hospital providing emergency, inpatient, outpatient, and surgical services to Ascension Parish and surrounding areas We serve 38,000 inpatients and 820,000 outpatients annually and are committed to building a healthy community through excellence in patient care and education.
