Job Details Salary range: $62,464 - $93,167 Shift structure: Monday to Friday, 7.25 hours per day Primary location: Multi-site Union:  Out of Scope Classification:  Occupational Health and Patient Safety Coordinator FTE: 1.0 Status :  Term (18 months) About the Role Reporting to the Manager, Occupational Health and Patient Safety (OHPS), the OHPS Coordinator is responsible for carrying out day-to-day tasks to maintain the organization’s health and patient safety programs. The OHPS Coordinator supports organizational compliance with provincial requirements and contributes to a culture of occupational health and patient safety aligned with CASA’s values of community, child-centered and family-inclusive care, collaboration, equity, diversity and inclusion, and outcomes-based accountability. The Occupational Health and Patient Safety Coordinator will: Respond to safety questions, concerns and reported incidents in a timely manner. Prioritize and carry out action items assigned to the OHPS department due to incidents and inspections. Escalate incidents, near misses and patient safety concerns based on established thresholds. Travel regularly between CASA sites to provide on-site support, including ergonomic assessments and adjustments, quarterly first aid kit audits and site inspections. Coordinate fire safety logistics including scheduling drills, sending communications and updating documentation. Support the coordination and delivery of a variety of training including but not limited to first aid, fire warden, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) and patient safety. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Good working knowledge of the OHS Act, regulations and code requirements. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong education, instruction and presentation skills. Knowledge of adult learning principles is an asset. Ability to build and maintain trusting working relationships with internal and external careholders. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team. Strong time management skills including the ability to prioritize competing work demands in a fast-paced, collaborative, health care environment. Excellent attention to detail in all aspects of work. Qualifications and Experience A post-secondary certificate or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety is required.   Experience in a health care environment (hospital, community-based or equivalent) or mental health treatment setting is a strong asset. Education in patient safety provided by a recognized Canadian organization or similar education or experience is an asset. Must maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification (training provided by CASA) and be physically able to perform all interventions. Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST) designation and valid first aid and CPR certifications are assets. Conditions of Employment A satisfactory Criminal Records Check This would be the financial responsibility of the successful candidate. Working Conditions Must be able to lift 13 kg on a regular basis.
