Administers first aid in the event of injury, rescues swimmers in distress or danger of drowning, and administers CPR and/or artificial respiration, if necessary.</li>\n <li>Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies, and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area to ensure a safe working environment and be able to answer customer questions. </li>\n <li>Knows and able to perform all emergency procedures and immediately responds to emergency situations in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures; accurately completes related reports as required.</li>\n <li>Properly completes daily tasks according to YMCA Aquatics Standard Operating Procedures.</li>\n <li>Remains calm and objective when under pressure or challenged by others while maintaining a positive attitude</li>\n <li>Provides excellent customer service to members, guests, and program participants.</li>\n <li>Attends required meetings, trainings and in-services.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong><u>Other expectations</u></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers.</li>\n <li>Attend/complete required abuse risk management training</li>\n <li>Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising consumers.</li>\n <li>Follow mandated reporting requirements.</li>\n <li>Adhere to job specific abuse risk management responsibilities.\n  <ul>\n   <li>Maintenance Employees-ensure unused rooms and closets remain locked; routinely monitor high-risk locations (locker-rooms and bathrooms), etc.</li>\n  </ul></li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Minimum age 15</li>\n <li>Current Lifeguard Certification - American Red Cross or YMCA Lifeguard or be able to gain certification within 60 days of employment.</li>\n <li>CPR, First Aid, & AED Certification</li>\n <li>Demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA standards</li>\n <li>Ability to effectively communicate and enforce policies and procedures to members, program participants, and guests.</li>\n <li>Ability to react quickly and properly in emergency situations.</li>\n <li>Complete New Staff Orientation, Child Abuse Prevention, and Blood Bourne Pathogen training within first 30-days of employment.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Lifeguard Certification is required prior to being hired as a lifeguard.
