Are you an experienced revenue cycle professional with a natural talent for mentoring, coaching, and leading others? Prairie View, Inc. is seeking a dynamic Patient Accounts Supervisor to provide leadership, oversight, and strategic guidance to our patient accounts specialist staff across our regional clinics.
In this vital leadership role, you will do much more than oversee billing operations—you will set the behavioral tone for the team. You will foster a culture of positive, respectful, and compassionate communication between team members, patients, and coworkers. Serving as the department’s subject matter expert, you will provide the training, mentorship, and daily guidance your team needs to meet our organization's quality, timeline, and financial resource goals.
What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)
1. Supervisory Leadership & Staff Development
Team Supervision: Provide dedicated individual supervision and training for Patient Account Specialists operating out of our Newton, McPherson, and Wichita locations.
Group Leadership: Lead regular group supervision and department meetings to align goals, share updates, and review best practices.
Performance Management: Complete comprehensive annual staff evaluations and deliver ongoing mentorship. Partner with the Director of Patient Accounts and Analytics to manage interviewing, hiring, and onboarding for expanding team needs.
Communication Cascade: Serve as the crucial communication link between executive leadership and frontline administrative staff, ensuring operational changes are shared clearly and transparently.
2. Revenue Cycle Excellence
Subject Matter Expertise: Maintain and share an advanced working knowledge of complex insurance benefit requirements, including referrals, pre-admissions, certifications, and specific managed care contract guidelines.
Confidentiality & Quality: Ensure all telephone inquiries and information requests are handled by the team promptly, accurately, and with strict adherence to HIPAA and patient confidentiality protocols.
3. Escalated Account Management & Collections
Total Account Oversight: Take high-level responsibility for complex patient accounts, guiding staff on setting up structured payment arrangements and resolving delicate collection balances.
Funding Advocacy: Work collaboratively with patients, families, and clinical teams to identify and unlock alternative funding resources when standard options fall short, including grant funds and specialized patient assistance funds.
4. Quality Assurance & Culture Contribution
Positive Work Environment: Model a high standard of respect, dignity, and a positive attitude in all workplace interactions, actively fostering a collaborative culture across departments.
Performance Improvement: Participate in and lead organizational Quality Assurance & Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives within the revenue cycle team to streamline operations and enhance the patient financial experience.
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience: Multiple years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle management, medical billing, collections, or patient registration is required. Prior leadership, supervisory, or team-lead experience in a medical office setting is highly preferred.
Core Skills: Exceptional communication, conflict-resolution, and verbal de-escalation skills. Must possess a proven ability to mentor staff and comfortably navigate complex insurance and managed care frameworks.
Organizational Abilities: Strong time-management and independent problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple site operations (Newton, McPherson, Wichita) efficiently.
Mission Alignment: A commitment to bringing energy, empathy, and professionalism to a workplace dedicated to behavioral and mental health healing.
