We're seeking an <strong>HLA Technologist II</strong> who will have the opportunity to work in one of the best ASHI-Accredited HLA Labs in the country with world-renown Medical Directors as part of a leading teaching hospital. This role will provide exposure to complex situations and will require analytical and problem-solving skills.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Shifts Available:</strong> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Full-Time, 2:45pm - 11:15pm, Monday - Friday</li>\n <li>Full-Time, 10pm - 6:30am, Sunday - Thursday</li>\n</ul>\n<p>*Please note there is an on-call component to the position, as well as a holiday rotation</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Be inspired. At Emory Healthcare.</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>At Emory Healthcare we fuel your professional journey with better benefits, valuable resources, ongoing mentorship and leadership programs for all types of jobs, and a supportive environment that enables you to reach new heights in your career and be what you want to be. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>We provide:</p>\n<ul>\n <li><strong>Sign-On & Relocation Bonus Incentives</strong><em> (when applicable)</em></li>\n <li>Comprehensive health benefits that start day one</li>\n <li>Student Loan Repayment Assistance & Reimbursement Programs</li>\n <li>Family-focused benefits </li>\n <li>Wellness incentives</li>\n <li>Ongoing mentorship and leadership programs </li>\n <li>And more!</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p>All levels of experience and education will be considered for this posting. </p>\n<h2>Description</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Function as a technical resource, performing complex assays and providing training and mentoring to other HLA staff. </li>\n <li>Performs standardized and high-complexity histocompatibility testing on various types of clinical samples. </li>\n <li>May perform tests in one scientific discipline or perform selected tests in multiple disciplines (crosstrain DNA/serology). </li>\n <li>Tests may include: HLA antibody screen and identification, crossmatching, typing, and engraftment monitoring. </li>\n <li>Analyze and evaluate results, and generate and evaluate clinical reports. </li>\n <li>Contribute to sample processing, test preparation, testing results, and generate reports. </li>\n <li>Serve as a technical resource for lower level technologist. </li>\n <li>Train and mentor other HLA technologist. </li>\n <li>Evaluates the validity of test results according to transplant program needs and confirms results by alternative methods. </li>\n <li>May evaluate new technologies and make recommendations on new acquisitions and/or upgrades of instrumentation and software. </li>\n <li>Participate in quality assurance and quality control data. </li>\n <li>Uses knowledge of various complex laboratory techniques and procedures to generate quantitative and qualitative observations and initiate problem solving processes if indicated. </li>\n <li>Participate in equipment maintenance, instrumentation calibration, quality control and documentation, and monitor levels of supplies and equipment.</li>\n <li> Must be able to take on-call assignments for nights, holidays, and weekends on a rotating basis. </li>\n <li>Other duties may also be assigned.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</strong>: </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Bachelor's degree in medical technology or a chemical, physical or biological science. </li>\n <li>Other bachelor's degree will be accepted if graduated from an accredited school of medical technology or if science and math coursework meet requirement of certifying agency. </li>\n <li>Bachelor's degree may be waived for a medical technologist who was ASCP certified in the years prior to the bachelor's degree requirement by ASCP and a HEW/HHS technologist certified by Health and Human Services. </li>\n <li>Two years of medical technology or HLA experience. (Medical Laboratory Technician experience is pro-rated). </li>\n <li>Certification by one of the following accreditation agencies: MT (ASCP), MLS(ASCP) or categorical, MT(AMT), MT(HHS or HEW), MT(AAB), CHT(ACHI), CHS(ACHI). </li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Additional Details</h2>\n<p>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium): 20-50 lbs; 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 50 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks. ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Factors affecting environment conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock, Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation, Shift work, Travel may be required.
